Are you scared of heights?

I'm not afraid of too much but that is my one undeniable fear.

I was rewatching the Mercer Report when he and Jann Arden did the CN Tower walk. I had to look away lol

I've been there, had dinner but couldn't sit next to the window OR step on the glass floor.

Yeah, I'm a big wuss lol

Pretty sure I'm not alone.

My most common nightmare is being on extreme heights. But in real, it doesn't bother me really. I mean climbing on a chair to get something from the top shelf is nothing to me. I have been on chair lifts and I totally love the view. Having said that I have not been to Hellavator. Not my thing. I think it is the sudden movement that scares me.

I worked construction, and used to walk a 2x6 plate, over two or three stories up....then I fell off once.
I'm older and wiser now( in my late 40's) so I can still do them, but I move an awful lot slower, when up that high.

My biggest fear is being burned alive....never crosses my mind fighting forest fires...but a fully engulfed house, that's something I fight within myself every time. Luckily I'm not deployed to very many, unless a forest fire starts it, but then there are usually bigger things to worry about, than someone's fishing cabin getting roasted.

I was in construction too.
At first we walked on 2×4 walls. When 2×6 came along that was a treat lol.2 floors up was my limit.
But I would hang of roofs 3 floors up .some one hold.g my belt.. finally I got a harness a few yrs be for I stoped doing family.
I don't like train tressels but can fly in little planes.

My fears is small places and being buried a live.

I have driven and walked over the Lions Gate bridge and when I drove over it I kept to my lane no matter what and looked straight ahead.When I walked over it my eyes were down to the ground.Had to drive over the High Level bridge in Edmonton once and I wont do it ever again.I drove to BC to take in the Rally in the Valley car show in Kelowna in 2008 when that massive construction project was going between Golden and Field and I made the mistake of looking UP once as I was driving through the work area and it was a good thing that the speed limit was reduced to 50 and I freaked out.Funny enough for the latter when you drive that stretch of road now you get no sense at all that you are hundreds of feet above a canyon.

similarly i don't like that section of highway 3 leaving osoyoos if you're going to or coming from cities east of there. you go past the resorts and then weave your way all the way up the mountain to the top. you see everything as there are no trees. it's fairly steep and the turns are very tight. i remember there's one about halfway up where trucks need a special section to make a turn, because the regular lane is too tight.

Never had a fear of heights. At some point, heights are beyond the point of registering. Basically, you're too high for your brain to relate to the height. That's why lower heights can actually be more scary.

I'm more wary on a 20 foot ladder, or on a tree limb than on the Empire State Building, a glass walkway on a Shanghai tower or in a bucket over the Port Mann Bridge.

that's why I think I could jump out of a plane yet I fall over with dizziness when I go near an edge!! I have to crawl up close to see any view, but I can not look down! I fear falling n bouncing down the side of whatever it is. So, Yes! I would say so! I am scared of heights.

I love going over the Mackinac bridge in Michigan, when drivers get to the see through grating section and they realize how high they are, instant brake lights!

Talking about staring ahead while driving.
Somewhere between San Bernadino CA and Los Angeles CA there is a massive (brain dead lol) thingy lmao. Where all the highways converge. It is 4 levels high. And BANKED. I slunk down in my seat and looked through the steering wheel. Gulp!

I've driven over the Lions gate lots but dont recall it being that high? Must have been the anticipation of seeing my favorite SP that took my mind off it?
The bridge over the Peace River at Taylor is metal. I've driven across when they are doing work to it. Best NOT to look down! Through the grating. Ugh!

Back in the day we would snowmobile in the Mountains. I had a new sled and charged up my very first mountain. I was still pulling hard but it looked like I was at the top so I turned down. I was PAST the top on the wind blown snow that projects over the top. It fell away under my track as I turned! All I saw was ... air. I just about puked and THAT was the end of my hill climbing. Forever. I just watched from then on. lol

I've been terrified of heights since I was a kid. Playing ball hockey on top of a 2 story building, I almost fell off and it only got worse from there.

I do challenge myself to overcome the fear of heights and have done rock climbing and rappelling courses. Always strapped in, I found I could do it.

I still get weak in the knees when going to the viewpoints of the Sears tower in Chicago. Or on any patio high up.

I even get that funny feeling when watching videos like this one.

Sometimes yes.
In my younger days I walked my share of wood framing and high steel assemblies- usually while packing materials as well, without fall protection. It wasn't usually a problem. Now- not so much fun. Especially 36' extension ladders leaning up against parapets- vey uncomfortable.
But also- and this is fucking warped- sometimes when I look out of hi-rise windows, or am at a roof's edge and such, I get this subtle "urge" to leap out.
I've mentioned it to some others, and seems this is not uncommon.
Go figure.

I'm not a fan of ladders, not the going up part but going down. Always afraid to miss a step and fall. Ski gondolas can also be scary sometimes.
