Did you have a Slinky ?
And I mean the original metal one, not one of those newfangled multi-colored plastic knockoffs.

I missed this one when it first was up. I remember every damn one of them, and owned most of them. I still have the nutcracker/pick set in a box somewhere. I learned to swear listening to Nestor Pestor 8 tracks in the 70s.

Did you ever play with "Dinky Toy" ( and I don't mean recently).
Prize for recognizing??? Hell I want to know what the prize is for still using half of them.
Still own the crockpot, washboard, coffee perc. nut cracker, cig lighter on an old truck.
This stuff isn’t old , but thanks for making me think that I am.
BTW. Got a buddy still plays 8tracks
Perc'd Coffee rock's.
I salvaged my grandparents percolator when we emptied their house and brew up a pot every Sunday morning
I'd be using it daily but it's over 60 years old so don't want to wear it out.
I don't know it may be nostalgia but it taste better to me.

I also salvaged my grandmother's cast iron skillet, it belonged to her mom so it's well over a hundred years old.

Talk about a well-seasoned frying pan.
I use it all the time when cooking and will
put it up against any frying pan you can buy today.

Mercurochrome is nasty stuff with a mercury base. It made infected wounds literally glow. Can't believe they sold it over the counter in drug stores.

I forgot
what the button on the floor in the car next to the brake was and then realized it was the switch for going to High beams.

I have seen many of those items on that list still in multiple friends and family members houses.

Most people tend to not throw old items out as much.

I bought, as in walked into the hardware store, and bought my single shot bolt action 22 rifle and a box of shorts and longs. When I was 13. My paper route financed that plus a lot of other things including a full set of Sam Snead clubs.
I had been following this thread every now and then and remembered many, but man that Kerplunk post literally took me right back to a family gathering sitting around the old kitchen table.
Thanks for that lovely little bit of nostalgia as we move to yet another decade.

I seen a tweet by Macaulay Culkin a few months back. He wrote

“Want to feel old? I’m 40. You’re welcome!”

Perked coffee is by far, much better.....and those old cast iron relics are better than any Teflon pan that deposits pieces into your food.
I have a huge old cast iron pan myself, that’s 16 inches across.....

Fuck, I’m old. The only thing I wasn’t sure about was the blue store light. Everything else I used or owned at one time or another. People get all excited about the new PS5. I had PONG and we played it on a 13” b & w tv.
