Hey I have nothing against Vancouver. I live here, my family is here and I work here. I get offended when people take shots at my home Province. I just think its crazy that you can say Vancouver is great and everyone loves you. You say something about Ontario or Toronto and you get ripped on. I have nothing against anyone on this forum but I feel that Canada as a whole is far greater together than if it was torn apart.
Again, you posted:
B.C. has nothing to offer. Softwood lumbar can't be that great considering how many mills close each year here and overfishing is turning us into the maritimes.
It's shocking that you and your family could live here and you know fuck all about the economic make up of the province and what makes it a global destination. Did you just move here or are you just stupid? B.C., and especially Vancouver, has it's problems as any decent sized city does but it's well documented that Vancouver consistently scores higher than Toronto for quality of life and as a liveable city. This has nothing to do with me or anyone else on PERB, we all have our own opinions, these are surveys and publications from other parts of the world.

My position regarding separation is that I'm a British Columbian first, Western Canadian second, and a Canadian third. If there was any time for the west to talk separation, now would be the time given the diversified economy the west has and the global demand for our abundant natural resources. I'm sick and tired of Quebec holding Canada hostage, influencing the political landscape more than they should and receiving kickbacks and grants from the Feds to keep them happy or shut them up. I'm also tired of the Feds and the media, people, and politicians of Toronto thinking the country revolves around them. It doesn't.

In my opinion, it's about fucking time the west became the "squeaky wheel"!

your mom says hi.
yo rainman had i have seen your earlier reply i may not have spit as much venom as i did in my last post to you. i'll start by saying at least you didn't resort to name calling like some of the other mindless neanderthals on this board so i thank you for that.

however i just want to set the record straight on a few things and answer some of your questions. for the record if the liberals cheated to lower themselves to the level of the PQ to save the country then yes i do think it is justified. sometimes my friend the ends do justify the means. i've heard many people in relation to quebec saying this "sometimes you have to cut off the limb to save the body." but lets keep in mind this does not always work as the cancer can spread. now i really hate to use terry fox as an example of the theory but there it is all the same.

i would predict that once one limb is cut, the rest will follow in terms of canadian confederation which might be why some of these idiots on this board would be so happy to see them go. so they can "free the west" from all the great amounts of tearany and oppression(big time sarcasm) they are facing in their daily lives. as for who it bennifited.................. i'll say this, if you wanted to remain a canadian and i think you do cause you said you voted "no" in the charming little poll. then it bennifits the whole of canada to have quebec remain. you may not see it now but i can tell you this, i really see a domino effect happening. as much as so many people on here wanna speculate about how well a seperate west would do as a country i highly doubt it. within a matter of years the left over former provinces would be gobbled up by the united states and their "manifest destiny".

as for me looking to other sources other then the cbc, i've already stated that i usually watch ctv news and then get the cbc later off the web. other outlets i look to are news prints, magazines, outside(overseas) media, books(from all sides). i make it my bussiness to stay informed. also just to let you know, the book that i referenced in regards to dirty quebec politics and vote fraud was written by an american immigrant to canada that happens to support the conservative party. thats right, i read and agree with a lot of things in a book written by an american immigrant conservative.

now i wouldn't say i agree with all she said. she had some not so good things to say about the liberals and quite frankly i agree with some of it. pick up the book sometime and read it and then you tell me if the liberals were within their rights to lower themselves to the PQ level. my answer to that will always be a firm yes.

now just to set the record straight on something else. just to let you know i didn't really live in toronto or southern ontario for that matter for that long. for the most part i lived in north eastern ontario along the quebec border. however like i said, when i was younger my family travelled a lot and other future situations dictated our migrations. also, i never claimed to be smarter then you or that living in ontario made me smarter then everyone. also i didn't really claim to know your background. i assumed that you really didn't understand the complexities of quebec because of your far proximity west but then i stopped a little short and said but maybe i shouldn't because i didn't know your background. however i was fairly certain of my assumption. but i'm sure we all know that assumptions can come back to kick you in the ass sometimes.

as for all the posts i make claiming that it is better in the east, i came right out and said it. i said that all the variables considered i still think vancouver comes out on top. its fact dude. thats what i said, you can re read the post if you want. also, i believe this. i'd go as far as saying that anything west of the foot hills beats living in ontario. now that i will say is an honest bias cause i've never really spent time on the prairie but i can tell you now it doesn't seem like my cup of tea. although a lot of quebec and the maratimes is quite nice as well:).

no offence man but i really do think that instead of reading the body of my response for what it is you are seeing and picking out things you want to see cause i think you have this notion of everyone from the east as being arrogant and what not so you can't fathom the fact that i may not be.

aznboi himself even said that my responses seemed cognet. i do believe that he is a fellow westener.

now again, i'm not trying to say that i'm better then you, blah, blah, blah, just trying to maybe point it out if you hadn't seen it. read the words i am writting and take that in without assumption and prejudice of people hailing from the east.

in closing i will say that yes i vote liberal. now do i agree with everything the liberals do or whats in their platform? FUCK NO! i don't agree with the gun registration, i want a stronger military to a degree, i want to be able to protect our actic soveriegnty, i don't believe a ban on legally owned hand guns by responsible owners is good. i too do think that at times sentences handed down by courts in some fairly serious to serious offences is at times a joke. the list could go on and on.

but i do agree with the liberal philosophy that this is a canada for all, i do believe in social liberalism, i do believe in having a saftey net for some people that fall through the cracks, i want to believe like trudeau said that we are a country of compassion and conscience. these things i think are at the core of the beliefs of the liberal party but i will say that i believe that they have strayed from this and believe me that if i were running the show things would be different. so before i get a bunch of christian neo cons bashing liberals let me say "look i know they fucked up alright, i hope things change.".

oh just one more thing. i don't really need you to "educate" me seeing as how i am both self and scholastically educated but knowledge is power and you do have some realavent things to say i'm sure so i'll end with that.

I really find this whole subject of regional separation tiresome. Whether it comes from Quebec, Alberta, or whoever feels slighted that particular week. Canada, as a united country, ranks among the greatest in the world.

We are considered boring by most other people, the world over. This may be the best indication of how good we have things. Boring is the inevitable outward appearance of a country with few major problems to solve.

We live in undreamed of wealth. Debate and ballots solve our greatest conflicts. We are free to travel wherever we please. The government assiduously avoids dictating how we comport ourselves in the privacy of our own homes and bedrooms. The vast majority of people on both the left and right of the political and social spectrum are able to have civil and productive discussions, without demonizing each other’s point of view. Even during a spirited election, our “attack ads” are deemed laughable south of the border, where normal daily discourse consists of little more than verbal gang warfare between Dems and Republicans.

This country is far from perfect, but the solution is not to destroy a country I would give my life to create, preserve or improve.
