there is nothing wrong with loving your home team. Toronto has alot of people living their. As to the west seperating, well it doesn't make sence. A few years down the road Alberta would want to get rid of the other western provinces because there tired of carrying them. B.C. has nothing to offer. Softwood lumbar can't be that great considering how many mills close each year here and overfishing is turning us into the maritimes. Love Canada its still the greatest country in the world.
You my friend had better brush up on what goes on in the different provinces before a spout off there;)

LOL.

This is from the Metro Toronto Convention Centre

"Torontonians display a level of openness unlikely in any city, let alone a city of Toronto’s size and magnitude. It is metropolitan, yet it feels as intimate as a village.....It doesn’t just have a Caribbean festival, it has the largest one outside of the Caribbean..... Toronto isn’t just diverse, it’s the most diverse city in the world.

I also remember an ad from a few years ago advertising Toronto as a tourist destination.

Middle of the picture was the CN Tower and all around the outside was the sun, moon, stars and planets.

Smackyo, is this not a little like the kettle calling the pot black.

Whether a region should be its own country is a perfectly reasonable thing to debate about and reasonable people should be able to disagree.

dude its called "promotion" they want to make money from tourists, therefore they have to, now take a moment to grasp this..................... promote themselves.

you want centre of the universe how bout vancouver. when i first moved here thats all i heard. natural beauty this, supernatural that. went to the fire works and thats all i heard. beauty, beauty, beauty, most beautiful city in the world, blah, blah, blah. that was something i noticed about here and still notice is how it is shoved down your throat.

now i've lived here for ten years and i love it and wouldn't trade living here for anything. but you've got to get a grip man. what the city of toronto does is called promotion. every city does it. get over it man.

also yes i would go as far as saying it is probibly the most diverse city in the world. you been anywhere that can compare. its got the largest greek community outside of greece, the largest carribean community out side of the carribean, and the thrid largest china town in north america. they've even got a "little malta" for fuck sakes. malta is a small island between sicialy and northern africa with a population of only a million people yet toronto has a little malta. nothing wrong with speaking the truth man. i would say even more culturally diverse then new york.

reason being, canadas links to england and englands former colonies. england ran a lot of countries. former british colonial citizens are givin preference to immigrate here based on the relationship we have with england. anyway rainman you were really reaching there with that example. it really proves nothing other then you don't really know what you are talking about.

can i ask you this? have you ever even been to toronto and actually stayed for any amount of time?

So to make you happy, I'll use my own words.

Everytime you write about Toronto, you prove my point. I know you don't mean to and I know you don't understand it but it is the truth. It is the same with a very good portion of people from Toronto.

Toronto the Good
The Leaf Nation
Calling in the military to deal with a snow storm
Most diverse city in the world
Better than New York

I am sure Perbland can add a few.

Let's look at Vancouver (since that is the comparision you used)

From the Tourism Vancouver website - about meeting and conventions

Incredible mountains, sparking ocean and a cosmopolitan flair make it perfect for work or play. Exceptional cuisine, first-class hotels and outstanding facilities, including an award-winning soon-to-be-expanded convention centre, are just some of things that will make the Vancouver experience unforgettable for delegates.

Compared to Toronto

"Torontonians display a level of openness unlikely in any city, let alone a city of Toronto’s size and magnitude. It is metropolitan, yet it feels as intimate as a village.....It doesn’t just have a Caribbean festival, it has the largest one outside of the Caribbean..... You do see the difference don't you? One sells features and one is arrogant.

Guest which is which?

I certainly do admire your pluck. Even feel sorry for you a little bit because it just isn't an equal fight. Now, please try to convince me. I can use the entertainment.

I love this forum. Compared to what I've read of the one in Toronto this is still the wild west. Not that I encourage this sort of behavior!

How about after the SARS episode when Toronto figured they'd have a big love-in to show the world that they're still "the center of the universe"? Yep, all the over the hill bands were there alright, at a steep price of course. From Canstats:
The federal and provincial governments together kicked in $5 million to bring the Rolling Stones to Toronto
Some charitable show of support. As for showing the world T.O. was still "THE" place to go?
o Media coverage fleeting. Although there was some international media coverage of the event, it was wrong to say they were all "positive stories across North America." Most of the coverage was fleeting and was concentrated in Canada. (A significant chunk of the "564" press accounts were simply Canadian Press stories reprinted in local newspapers across the country). There was no mention on the major U.S. networks’ dinner-hour newscasts on the day of the concert. CNN provided little coverage and it was ignored by Britain’s major networks and daily papers. The Financial Times printed a story on the inside pages. Some of the international coverage could well have reminded people of SARS hysteria, rather than debunking it, like a New York Times article under the headline "Toronto turns on rock to drown out SARS fears."
I wonder how much this truly cost the taxpayer directly and indirectly? How pathetic. And does Toronto ever actually host a world class event?
Olympics? NOPE. Commonwealth Games? NOPE. World Exposition? NOPE. World Junior Hockey Championship? NOPE. World Figure Skating? NOPE. World Weightlifting? NOPE. G7 Summit? NOPE. APEC Conferences? NOPE. WTO Conferences? NOPE.

Next to L.A. and New York, Vancouver is the third largest film center in North America and it consistently ranks in the top two or three most liveable cities in the world in almost every publication or survey.

Not that I mean to bash Toronto...geez, I had to live there for three years...but just thought I'd mention some stuff!

I thought this poll was for western seperation, not Vancouver vs Toronto. There 2 totaly different cities with 2 different landscapes and 2 different economies. If you don't like living in Canada move. If you don't like Toronto don't live there. No ones asking you too. I'm surprised the mods havent closed this thread after all the name calling. Grow up and move out of your parents basement.
