My concern would be how to have sex without waking 168 of them. Or even trying to masturbate without some one banging on the bathroom door.

On a more serious note, wouldn’t it be fun to have 145 wives and 25 kids? That’s like not seeing the same woman for iver three months!
On second thought, that would also mea no time to masturbate!!

And here I thought "Man with 10 Children always in Hole. This guy just falls in one hole after another, they get some major subsidies from the province as well in the hundreds of thousands. Mostly for education at their own school which none of them ever graduate from. Boys are kicked out of the clan and girls are traded with other old guys crazy system but it seems to work.

I couldn't logistically live with one wife.....there's no way that dude could run that many barbecues...and sort that much recycling.

there have been more than one news programs looking into the fraud that the BC/Fed gov't hasn't had the balls to take on over the yrs

So do they castrate the boys in these religious sects? One man, 25 women. Of those 145 kids how many males get the chance to marry or have sex with at least one other female?

Re-enforced slave labour. The community makes sure the kids don't get an education. The high school goes up to grade 10, most adults have grade 1 or 2. Without education where will they go? A closed circle. When you think of it, the elders own all the businesses, and employees (family members) get paid low wages. And usually the money you make is either returned to the family outright to support other family members or it is held on hand in the business, due to the lie that if he ever needs money, he will get it.

Women are valued as breeding stock. Young male teenagers are looked on as competition, which they do away with by forcing them out by low wages and no education or outright being kicked out of the community. Kind of like a steer (male bull sterilized).

Most religious family ,or commune farms are run this way, although not on such a scale....and the old man normally isn't so predatory in nature.
In most other religious farming communities, the women are valued participants in the day to day running of the farm, although heavy manual labour is left to the males.

The business /farms get so large, to support the offspring, it becomes unattainable to anyone but the very people who start it.....until someone dies.

Regarding your steer comment, .....even the biggest Bull, has his day, and ends up going into the grinder.

If you work for a family business and only family worked there; Do you want a equal share of it, or just take the minimum wage.... If you are not taught about law and what your rights are, people can take advantage of you. The greater good of the family or community... your taught from a young age to be giving...etc.... and young men and women are indoctrinated into the system, when someones bucks it they are kicked out of the business and family, they have poor educational skills because they are taught nothing in order for them to succeed in the modern world. The more ignorant of the world they are, the easier it is to control them.

If it is so great, how many young men stay? Most of the women are encouraged to stay by marrying them off early like at 15 or 16. Not to young men, to older men in their 40's and they will be the 4 th or 5 th wife...

"Marrying" a 15 y.o. girl by a noticeably older man is sexual abuse. It's pretty clear I think from the Criminal Code perspective. I assume this happened pre-2008, at which time the age of consent in Canada was 14. If polygamists continued that practice after 2008, RCMP could get evidence for sexual assault charges rather than polygamy.

It is harder to protect a 16 y.o. girl, she can legally consent. Though she's still a child and it's disgusting to see men in power in their community taking advantage of children like that.
