What I love about these discussions in politics, everyone here likes to complain and take cheap shots at everybody. Very Christian like attitude they have. Canada is a socialist government, hiding in a capitalist economy run by banks (big corporate companies). In Canada there is too much monopolies due to small population and large land mass. Government infrastructure is gigantic in size compared to smaller European countries (Norway, Sweden) where their infrastructure is small, transportation is small (trains, highways etc) cause everything is closer together. So transport is high to support infrastructure.
Any supply chain for materials has a large portion of Imported (from US) material coming ultimately from China/far east countries. The reality supply chains come from the US and it costs Canadians. Even with free trade, the average price of something in Canada for industrial purposes cost 15 to 25 % higher than in the US. Again it all has to do with monopolies (or the term preferred supplier); the reality is it is actually a monopoly on that item or part. Look at plexiglass, it is about 2 times more expensive than in Texas, I mean transportation isn't that much is it?
One reason people don't see this is the practice of quotes when it comes to websites (as the market fluxuation of the price say for steel). You need to ask for a quote in Canada, whereas in the US its on their websites. So why are the prices hidden when steel is very stable in price?
And electricity, every province is connected to the state south of them, but not to other provinces.

Provinces are more likely to fuck over other provinces, when they should be working together. Although this might be a Federal way of dealing with the provinces.
Ontario has lots of hydro up in the northern part of Ontario, but is not that well connected to the south Ontario, which uses nuclear power for electricity. Ontario privatized its transmission service to political hacks (friends of the politicians at the time).... And this shit keeps happening all over Canada. If its not billionaire families controlling the provincial economy, its large corporation like Rogers (shaw), telus, and Bell that control access to media through cell phone and internet, and cable.
Do you really need 5G connect ability... No 4 G is good enough. For large cities and across Canada, 5G--- maybe... And computer things are doing too much shit as it is.... Alexa listens to you, all your internet inquiries (googling), is recorded and the programs send you ads about every thing you searched for. Don't be surprized if they start checking/recording you online banking....
The #1 biggest drawback to innovation is patents. Patents create monopolies. Most Billionaires make their money off patents (same with large corporations) cause they all have large team of lawyers to sue anybody infringing on their patent.
Sawstop, Gortex (after the developer die, his family doubled the price of Gortex products), yeah the high price of Gortex is just family greed. Its forced other manufacturers to find alternatives to keep prices down (although its not as good as gortex).
Pretty much anything to do with plastics is patented...
Today Walmart is the corporation that need to be broken up. Food store, auto store, clothing store, drug store.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/com...ross-the-us-in-2023-see-full-list/ar-AA1kbBxw
The reality is Walmart is closing stores where they are losing money due to crime and violence. And they are a cheap place to get things, so shit is really bad in those areas... But in well behaved neighbourhoods they make a killing.....
What can Canada do, maybe some of you assholes could quit calling each other names and come up with some slick solutions.... instead of bitching all the time.
In Canada we vote governments out, why not because they fucked up but because of perceptions. Nobody gives a fuck who wins, the elected governments are all the same, keeping the status quo with the populace, while trying to fund their distinct political bias, which nobody really needs. Most needs are meet in Canada, but its degrading as more idiots get into politics and fill their own pockets, by tweaking monetary policies that is to their political advantage for their party....
Taxes are outrageous and have to be cut, but won't be until people get fed up just start killing the fucking greedy bastards in government...
Canada used to be a company towns, where the education consisted in public schools on how to train the next generation of workers. That all ended in the 80-90s when pulp plants and mining towns started to shut down. Most large towns are run by 3-5 families that control all the business. Yes that is a form of mafia.... Especially if you don't play ball and charge out of town competition a premium, if you don't you are blacklisted...This tends to happen in more isolated places...
The material to make a dress is just as expensive in Canada, as to just buy a foreign made dress. This is the problem in Canada. To many people capitalizing on monopolies or perceived monopolies. or should I say middlemen/companies.
