Fair enough, Mr. Hunsperger. It's quite obvious that the intangibles must be considered when assessing a player's true value towards his team. So since you brought it up, consider this. How do you replace two guys who combine for 160 points per season and are a combined +195 since they started their NHL careers 9 years ago? Vancouver is not a competitive team without them. I think most teams would gladly take on more than their combined $12.2M cap hit because they're going to significantly increase your odds of winning the big game.
The same applies to Luongo. His $6.75M cap hit is in anticipation of what he will provide your team one day. His value to the organization is beyond measure.
Conversely, one can argue that until these guys win the big game, they've got a lot to prove. The Olympics in Vancouver is a great start! Holy f*** am I getting excited!
Having said that, most teams out there wouldn't hesitate to pay more for those three guys because any one of them will truly increase your odds of winning that big game. You guys have all 3 of them. Stop complaining.
Holy cow.....imagine if I WAS a Canucklhead fan!
