Never done it in a car. Well, I have made out a few times but that’s about it. It’s just not for me. Chances of me even making out with someone are pretty slim at this age. So that covers a big portion of almost everything.
:)
Doing it in a car can be fun for a change. I'm older than you, and have done so not so long ago, so its not too late :) Ask a lower cost SP that is a regular (for you) if they would be willing to do car date the one time. I think you might be surprised how much you enjoy it lol

We never had rain ever since I got my T3 till last three four days and finally I got the chance to test the wipers.

So far I found wipers to be the hardest things to operate. There is a quick wipe button at the end of the turn signal lever on the left of the steering wheel But rest of the controls are on the bottom left of the screen.

Number one it makes me take my eyes off the road. Secondly it takes extra few moments to operate. The old fashioned wiper controls can be operated with one’s eyes closed but in Tesla you have to touch the precise buttons. Also first you have to touch the wiper menu and then choose the appropriate control. I found it quite inconvenient during the ever changing amount of heavy rain yesterday.
Auto feature has a mind of its own and during a brief use, I found it to be at speeds that I wouldn’t pick. Either it was going at the fastest pace or it was moving too slow when I needed it to be quicker.

So only 5/10 for me to wipers.

Given the state of technology, my wish is to have voice control over such basic operations. What used to be simply controlled functions have evolved into over-engineered exercises that end up pissing people off more than helping them.

How about: "Wipers: Rain Detect plus 20%" then the physical controls move to the correct position AND this is instantly reflected on screen of people want to interact that way.

Just changing the clock time and setting up radio from one car to the next is another pet peeve of mine.

Yes I agree. That and face recognition. Why even rely on card-keys. Your car sees your face, unlocks, you get in and car recognizes your face to start.

An update.

Auto wipers don't work in full darkness. I mean on a street with no street lights or no oncoming traffic, you have to turn them on manually.

Did you notice that Auto wipers don't work during full darkness?
I didn't notice, it works over 90% of time for me! The times it didn't work on it's own, I just use the quick wiper once and auto will take over after

You paid about 52K if I recall. For that amount of change you can buy a pretty nice gas powered vehicle or even a pretty nice plug in hybrid from Toytota, for example. Toyotas have a lot automous features as well such as automatic breaking and intelligent cruise control. Do you feel you got value for your $$$ considering the other options available to you for the same amount of $$$?

Saw a news story today about a guy that has an electric 2013 Nissan Leaf. The batteries are pretty much done, says he gets 80 kliks on a full charge. Was told when he bought it a new battery pack would be $5,000. Now the local dealership says they can’t supply new batteries and if they could find some the pack would be $15,000. He contacted Nissan Canada and they said couldn’t help him and advised him to go to the dealer. Car is essentially useless now.

I did do a lot of thinking before going ahead. I wanted a hybrid or an electric plug in kind of vehicle. Finally I narrowed it down to Toyota's hybrid RAV4. The RAV4's package that I wanted would cost around 43K. I paid about 10K more for a vehicle that would cost me about quarter of fuel cost that I pay now, that requires little maintenance, totally enviro friendly, has loads of features and in vogue (yea, that was one of lures, I admit).

I must also admit that if Toyota or Honda made something similar to Tesla 3, trust me, I would have gone for that. I am surprised they are taking their time. I can also tell you that as soon as one of these two of my favorite car makers come up with something similar, I would certainly consider switching to it.

I heard that Tesla’s are just as bad as gm for warranty work done in the first three years of ownership,so can’t see how you call that being reliable.
Can anyone speak to this? I’ve heard the opposite

I looked at the Tesla but it didn't make sense for Winnipeg. The base model is RWD not FWD which is really a pain in the ass in winter. Then to jump into the AWD the price was $80K+ if I remember correctly. At that point the fuel savings don't really justify an electric for me.
I like the look of the Rivian SUV, but again it's going to be close to $150K. The Rav4 Prime looks promising as an alternative PHEV, not sure what the price is but I'm guessing it must be around $70k.

Thanks for the review @take8easy + all your other reviews ?

Any thoughts / feedback on the supposed thin paint that’s on the cars and supposed curbing of wheels?

a friend has curbed their wheels twice within a month of ownership. No curbing or wheel rash on their other cars...

I have not had any issues like that (so far) may be because I have not had any incidents either. But I have heard and read a lot about the quality of work or lack thereof.

There are other minor things as well. Their side cameras fog up on the inside of the protective plastic outer shield during cold weather and if the vehicle is left outside in the rain.

I just learned last week that many of Tesla's are being assembled in China!!! Enough said! Only if I knew that beforehand, I certainly would have second thoughts about buying mine.

Having said that all, I still don't have any real complaints. I am planning to re-evaluate it after a year and see if I still want to keep it or not.

That sounds like a design flaw regarding the side cameras. Many car companies have quality issues. Being assembled in China has less importance. There are big companies (Samsung, Apple, etc) that have major manufacturing plants in China. Your opinion obviously, my opinion is that comment is not relevant.

fyi: I’m not Chinese.

Most would know that made in China usually doesn't mean quality especially if one is paying over $50K for a vehicle, I would avoid.
Buying clothes made in China, I don't care that much unless it's a suit.

China can make great stuff. China can make crap. Canada makes some great stuff, but also some real crap. Same for the US, Germany, anywhere. For big-ticket items, do your research. For low-price stuff, take your chances.

Name some real crap made in Canada, USA & Germany.

I would choose a GM/Ford vehicle over a Chery or Geely anyday.
