Basic Mobile Device Security:
1. Make security rules with the big head, before you start the hobby.
2. Never let the the little head bend the rules, just a little bit for this one time ...
3. Always use a burner, always buy with cash, always buy the top up three months before you use the top up.
4. Always pay with cash because e-transfer anything is reported and archived forever. If you don't believe this, read about pp and look a likes who reports all etransfers to 720 different agencies around the world. Don't believe it? Search it, better to know. This is also a Canadain regulatory requirement if to or from bank account or credit or debit card etc.
6. Too many apps are owned by FB, GGL etc. Imagine being busted by your Timmy's app recording who you were near! Best to have a dumb burner phone without GPS, wifi, bluetooth, and especially not near field communication. Or Justin's covid app might bust you.
7. If you must use a phone browser consider duck duck go. Better not to, for sure.
8. Never bring the burner home. Period. Easy to replace if lost or stolen from where ever it is kept
9. Keep the burner turned off except when in use to avoid triangulation and time geo analysis of your travel patterns.
10. Never accept outcalls. Someone will show up or you have to explain why the break in. Imagine having to move or sell because of harrassment, threats or divorce!
11. If someone wants personal info, references etc, politely decline and just move on. They are more concerned about themselfes than you, which is their right, just as your privacy is your right You have no idea where that information is stored and who will have access to it in a week, a month, a year etc. Just ask a few wrecked politicians.
12. NEVER TAKE YOUR BURNER ACROSS A NATIONAL BORDER. That is just dumb.
I hope that covers most of it. Would appreciate learning any additional mobile device security ideas.
