Just wait what the NDP has in store, with 20+ years of accident free driving have to be more careful, while less experienced drivers no changes.

Thanks for sharing. It's quite radical, can affect everybody with 4+ years accident free driving. You only get 1 "free" claim if you drive 15+ years accident free. Anything lower, your premium will raise and faster than before.

Canadian Direct, may be? Canadian something with Hongkong Bank at its back. I too heard a story that things were not as easy to deal with when an accident did happen.
That was many years ago. No idea if they operate any different, but they were independent - part of HSBC- sold off again - now seem to be with "belairdirect" whatever it is.

For an alternative, you can check BCAA quotes online at https://apps.bcaa.com/pages/auto-quick-quote

Nope you missed the entire point- I give you more credit than that.
I'm saying that I don't mind paying the freight for my use of the road.
Others that can't/won't just make it easier for those like me that are prepared to pay a fair price.
But there are many out there that will drive an extra 5 miles and spend an extra 30 minutes in rush to save a couple of bucks.
My time is more valuable than that.
Did you notice the golden Ears Bridge before and after the toll removal? It was avoided like the plague on principal from so many. Now, it's as busy as it was designed to be.
Now, good for those that finally use it. But to instead use the Mission or Mary Hill routes to save $2.80 was ludicrous.
And why wouldn't I be happy to have a less congested pathway?
I'm not looking for a free ride.
There needs to be user-pay to afford these upgrades.
There was a perfectly good system in place- but as usual-
1. the masses want everything for free, and
2. The NDP made a promise to the great unwashed and now the rest of us will be paying more for the same thing with a new moniker.
Tolls are a reality. In a perfect world ALL the crossings would carry a $1 toll, the traffic would have even distribution and the users would be paying a fair rate.
But get a new government involved and see it all fall apart to "appease" the masses.
I agree and add that Toronto has had paid highways for years. When I'm back there for work, I use them if my GPS indicates the free highway is backed up.

It's a great convenience to use the paid highway system but definitely not cheap. Many employers make it a paid benefit so their employees arrive on time instead of an hour late. I shook my head when I got my bill from the car rental company and thought it's an expensive proposition if one was to use the highwys to and from work daily. I tend to travel earlier and via some of the more scenic routes when I'm back there.

Perfect, thanks!! I wasn’t aware of the insurance aspect from BCAA.
I’ve got a 2010 Porsche. 43% discount and still pay $2400. Ridiculous.
I’ve been a BCAA member forever. Will pursue further.
Much appreciated muffdiver!!
