I think my favourite now , always wonderful service is William tell.
I am not sure if this restaurant was mentioned previously so many threads already.
Fond memories - last time I was there my dad was still alive - thanks for bringing that back hun
Now I just have to say that the LIBRA ROOM on Commercial may be Vancouvers best kept secret. Great food, great music and the most amazing martinis anywhere. Plus the place just feels good. Can't say enough good things about it. Will put the food up against any other joint in the city.

Such a cool place. Good crowd. Truly one of the city's best kept secrets. Plus, the girls are pretty cool as well. :) :)

Thanks for the reminder!

Friends told me about this place on Commercial and I forgot the name.

Definitely on my next venture up the Drive.

The new Hawksworth Restaurant at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia is a welcome addition to the city's vibrant restaurant scene. David Hawksworth, formerly of WEST fame, has brought an all-star cast to his new resto from the Wine Director to his Pastry Chef. :thumb:

That new resto bar in Kits, Displace Haschery, owned by Michael Buble's sister is pretty cool and reasonable. I like the Crab Burger. One hell of a patio as well. :thumb:

I like Greek food (no pun intended). Any recommendations? Also LOVE Mexican food!
I am desperately seeking a decent Greek place on the North Shore. I used to go to one on Lonsdale but the food went way down hill after the owners split and the chef left. Pasparos is adequate for lunch but seems to lost its really good taste for dinner and they have focused on giving huge helpings instead of doing it right.

What about Greek in Burnaby or Vancouver? Suggestions?

Mexican. I have always enjoyed meals at Las Margaritas in Kits. Everything is fresh and the recipes are true to the Mexican tradition. Lunch/Dinner or just socializing, its a nice cantina to hang out in IMHO.

Greek food is usually so bland compared to other cuisines.

Chinese, Indian and even Italian are more daring.

I really love East Is East in 3300 block West Broadway. They serve absolutely wonderful Afgani food, great chai's, and deserts. The serving staff is great-pretty young women with little or no attitude who are genuinely friendly. I'm hooked on the chai soya latte. Yum.

I went to the Italian kitchen last night. The place place was packed, but I had a reservation. The restaurant has so many my favorite food including pasta with lobster tail and mini doughnut with chocolate inside. The service was excellent too except the hostess. Whenever I was craving for good Italian food, this was the place to go for last 3 years for me!

Vancouver & Tofino
IMHO:
Seafood - Blue Water Cafe; C (both Downtown)
Chinese - Zen Fine Chinese Cuisine - Food is spectacular but service can be a little short
French - La Belle Auberg (Ladner, it's in an old Victorian home)
Italian - Cin Cin; La Terrazza (both with an amazing wine list)
Spanish - La Bodega (Downtown)
Mexican - Lolita's (West End)
Latin - Baru
Japanese - Tojo's on West Broadway; Takifugu in Richmond
West Coast/Pacific Northwest: The Apron inside The Westin Wall Centre in Richmond (my new fave eventhough it's out of the way)
Indian: Vij's in South Granville
Jewish: Maple Grill (best burger sliders I've had thus far)

Enjoy

Hapa Izakaya on Robson is quite amazing, but I found it to be pretentious and overpriced. SERIOUSLY hot waitresses though. Worth checking out once, for that.
My friends who have a knack for Asian girls frequents this place as it is known for its HOT Asian waitstaff. Food is second priority. :) :)

My vote goes to:

Japanese - Zest Japanese on 16th & MacDonald
Breakfast - Provence Marinaside (everyday - but Sunday Brunches are excellent) - and they have hot waitresses and hostesses too.... and the owner is one hot babe too.

Mediterranian - Provence restaurants (10th Ave or Marinaside)
Italian - Cin Cin on Robson
Also liked Beach House, but its been years since I've been there.

You wanna talk about over-priced and pretentious ~ Look at C! That's what their food starts with as in C-rap.... and me thinks their pricing is based on C-notes....as in $100 for an appy! Ate their once, and swore never to be robbed again.... funny thing, though.... they hid the gun really well....

I'm gonna have to jump on the Blue Water bandwagon.
There's lot's of amazing food in this city-- it is Vancouver after all.
Blue Water blew my mind. Haven't had anything like it before or since.

Hint: if a menu says that a dish won an award... ORDER THE DISH!

For more casual meals, I love Sha Lin Noodle House on Broadway, The Naam, and The Reef.
