Ok here's a question for ya, kids.

I'm seeking a restaurant with excellent seafood and a stellar view for someone near and dear's birthday dinner.

This narrows out Blue Water and Coast which would've been my top two seafood picks. Sure they both have ambiance but neither have a nice view.

Sure there's Monk McQueen's, Lift and Salmon House on the Hill but I'd love a good recommendation for somewhere new if there's some little gem out there I've yet to hear about.

Any recommendations?

If all else fails, I'm reserving at Coast.

Cardero's in Coal Harbour. great view, good food and not so pretentious.

Has anybody been to ensemble on Thurlow by our very own Top Chef Canada winner Dale MacKay?
" When a door closes, a window opens. "

The closure of Lumiere in Kitsilano turned out to be a blessing not only for Dale MacKay but for Vancouverites as well who value good food and great service at a reasonable price. I hope Ensemble will be the start of MacKay's mini restaurant empire. :thumb:

Did anyone else watching Top Chef Canada think MacKay came off arrogant and acted like a bratty child in the kitchen when he got stressed?

Recently had lunch at West, first return visit since DH left. Turns out the place is still very good. Look for it to get even better when Quang Dang takes over.

Chucky Cheese or BP? (Please :D)

That is one thing that bugs me in a 4 star restaurant that a couple will bring junior with them and next thing you know the kids screaming, running down crowded aisles and tossing food. Not saying your kids would but IMHO there is a time/place for younger kids.

I like this place for a wood fire thin crust pizza :thumb:

congee noodle house is 1/2 a block west of main on broadway north side of the street

parking in the back,

food is very good but noodle house format so the ambiance not quite the same as a kirin or sun sui wa
nothing wrong with the food though, service is good and food comes quickly
I use to eat there regularly until I found out they got shut down for a month or so a couple of times, due to health reasons....

My favorite Italian Resto as of late is LA QUERCIA in Kits - quite tiny in size but such excellent Italian food and service. Definitely one of the best in the city. Gotta do magic sometimes to get a table here. It's like Harlem's Rao's has moved to Kits. :thumb:

We are very lucky in Vancouver for great Italian. Just happened about 5 years ago when Cibo opened, then Campagnolo. La Buca, La Quercia, Nook, Tavola, Nicili Antica. Now the new place in the 5th Ave Theatre.
