You know what?
I'm all for women's rights etc- going topless etc.... I ain't no prude. I'm also not in the least bit homophobic. I too have gay family members as well as numerous gay friends. I've worked in Vancouver gay bars when you were likely still suckling at mommy's breast. I participated as part of a team in the Gay Games here in Van in 1990. And the law says shirtless for chicks is OK. Cool.
But when a mom comes and asks you to tone it down a bit because the kids are watching and your response is to rip off your shirt and get sassy about it then not cool.
You said in your interview that this was homophobic and directed at you because you are lesbians. Past issues forced you to make a stand. And it was just "a peck" here and there. Yeah, OK, I'm really buying that, given your Board personality. I think "In Your Face!" sums it up well.
Would it then be OK for a chick to rip off her top and make out with her boyfriend on a public beach with kids nearby? I doubt it.
Time and place. Better judgement should have ruled. Take the high road rather than be confrontational when a mom asks you to respect her kids.
Glad you had some fun, ladies. Free advertising and all that, too.
Ahh, herein lies the rub--we weren't going at it when she came over. I had a nip slip (big jugs in a onesie with denim shorts and a collared sleeveless shirt thing, btw) while we were hanging out on a mostly empty beach waiting for karaoke to start. Yes, we had kissed. We do that. We weren't going down on each other or making magic, just sitting out at 7pm, waiting to head off to the bar for dinner. We weren't licking tits or getting extra raunchy, just a very toned-down hang while we watched the internet go by in the sunset. We weren't sitting between stacks of families having lunch. We weren't on the same towel. And the "kids" in question were in their early teens, neck-deep in water 30ft away.
We're not idiots (usually), we weren't looking for attention or wrapped in pride flags. And then mum comes over to us to tell us to knock it off, her kids are here.
We tell her to chill, it's a beach. And she says she's fine with us, congratulations, but she doesn't want her children seeing us. So we exercised our right to bare titties. Because this prude was on our case about how indecent we were being while we were mulling over song choices for karaoke and "I ate all the hummus actually, I might not get a full entree, but I'll find something to snack on..."
So they sat there and snarled at us for half an hour while we waited for them to leave so we could pass them to get back to the car. They called the cops, who didn't come because we weren't doing anything wrong. They came to take our photo, because they were mortified at how damaging we were being. They flipped us off and sent strangers to come tell us off. We told people we were within our legal right and they got snarly with us too, telling us we weren't welcome 'round these here parts and we'd best just leave if we din wan no trouble.
After they left, we put on our shirts and shoes, slowly shook off our towels, and made sure they weren't hanging around. And we had the phone ready as we walked back to the car.
Then she called the news to say we were having sex on the beach and sent out picture out over the internet. The mortified child she referred to? That's the one sitting in the chair in her hair salon while she's doing the interview. So, not too young to hear that, I guess.
Then she put a post on Facebook about it, looking for other witnesses to ... continue her fight? Prove how gay they knew we were?
Yes, our displays here are bold, but it's part marketing and persona in a review board for escorts with people we can assume are adult and consenting. In real life, I'm a much quieter person. I'd rather be home alone with a podcast or two. Clementine was up my ass all day about going to the beach and I managed to talk her down to "before we hit the bar?" so that we wouldn't be near screaming kids and families.
At this point, I'm three-quarters to lawyer. These aren't the actions of someone who saw us having sex at the beach in broad daylight in-between strollers and sand castles, it's someone who saw us as "other", injected herself into our evening when we weren't doing anything wrong, slapped the wrong pee pee, watched us go full "you wanna see some fuckin' nipples?!" and no one would do anything about it because nothing happened. She didn't leave, even after the cops told her we were within our rights. She didn't drop it after she left. And she's still on our case, trying to find someway to make it stahp.
