It's impossible to interact with the world at large on anything and not offend someone. Have you seen Twitter?
No, actually. One reason I've stayed away from Twitter.

I wonder if the people would feel the same if it were two same-sex men, two fugly 200 lb middle-aged lesbians, a 16 year old boy and an older woman, or any other combination but two young lesbians who feed their fantasies?

Personally, yes without question, except the 16 year old which is not legal, but I'm not about to ask for ID to confirm. It's kind of sad that you think the only reason people approve or disapprove of anything is based on whether it benefits them or not. I have empathy.

Also why should we preferentially not offend conservative values at the expense of offending liberal ones rather than the other way around? Since we don't all like the same things, you have two choices: suppression or tolerance. Suppression is the more draconian and imposing solution.

That's pretty much what I said to Elsi yesterday....Kelowna Karen, or whatever her name was, just wished she was sitting between the two of them, talking about hairstyles, and waxing Landing Strips.

Shit if I saw those two.... I would be sitting between them ,and holding their beer.

Edit:....Or in Clem's case a Gingerale.

Where did I say, or imply people are offended based on what benefits them?

Tolerance now, seems to be more about "you have to put up with it", rather than being considerate of others' feelings, and maybe not showing how cutting edge you are by doing things in public just for the sake of doing them.

Intolerance is not confined to conservative or liberal viewpoints.

Look how many "liberals" are triggered by a MAGA hat, and find no problem attacking people who wear them or denying them service? Yet people are expected to accept a person wearing a shirt that says, "FUCK".

None of us were there, so we're making decisions, and assumptions based on which side you've picked. Many made assumptions about the woman who complained - She hates sex, she's homophobic, she's must be a religious prude - that are not based on knowing her, but on taking the other side's viewpoint.

The general hypocrisy in what people choose to be offended by, or tolerate is where my sticking point lies.

When you wrote this:

You're assuming self-interest (appealing to lesbian fantasies) rather than a genuine motivation to let others be.

Tolerance now, seems to be more about "you have to put up with it", rather than being considerate of others' feelings, and maybe not showing how cutting edge you are by doing things in public just for the sake of doing them.
Another straw man argument. (a) When did tolerance ever mean prohibition? Tolerance means let others do their own thing, not tiptoe around them, (b) you say "we weren't there" and so can't say, yet are asserting that it was "in your face". You can't have it both ways. From the recounts of both sides it doesn't sound like the ladies were doing any "in your face" behaviour until the others got in their face.

Look how many "liberals" are triggered by a MAGA hat, and find no problem attacking people who wear them or denying them service? Yet people are expected to accept a person wearing a shirt that says, "FUCK".
Denied service = private business, and both shirts can get you banned. This was a public beach.

In any case, intolerance of intolerance is a whole separate issue. One need not accept people promoting intolerant (e.g. racists, homophobic, etc.) philosophies because they themselves have defined the rules of engagement, so there's no hypocrisy in engaging them on their own terms.
