Once again, the XFL raises like a phoenix from it’s disruptive ashes.

This incarnation struts shades of the past, with twists of the future. But will the XFL rise with the Rock, or sink like a stone?
Yes, Dwayne “The Rock” and steamy ex-wife Dany Garcia have somehow combined to re-birth the XFL; AGAIN! The upstart XFL is back—it just won’t stay dead. Lol. Gotta say tho, our Canadian muscle-bound movie star does a credible job of rallying the crowd in a half-empty stadium. Better than Vince? We will see.

What’s to Love:

1) Football after the superbowl. Yes, I am still basking in the afterglow of a great NFL post-seasons. Chiefs/Eagles see-saw matchup with red-Rhianna half-time will go down as an instant classic. NFL couldn’t script it any better, with Chiefs evolving from a pretty team to a gritty team, and putting the Hurts on an otherwise solid Philly D. But 6 months off? Yes please, gimmie some pigskin in the off-season. Even if it’s secondary market teams. If the sport is good, I will watch it.

2) Innovation. In the XFL, you can go for 1, 2, or 3 pt converts. Holy choices Batman! Seems trivial now, but remember that before the XFL brought in the 2-pt convert option (“borrowed” from the CFL), the NFL stoically stuck to their one-and-done TD wrap-up. Boring, and non-strategic. Despite prior failures, competition was good for forcing the NFL to step up its game. What’s cool now? The way the XFL mics up everything gritty, from inside locker room pump-ups and half-time preps, to refs and replay officisls making decisions real-time, to coaches and players doing their trash-talk thing, I like this authenticity, where your every thought is not filtered through announcers.

3) The X-Factor. You just never know what might come up. My ATF is “He Hate Me” on the back of the dude’s jersey. Crazy refreshing.

What’s to Hate:

1) It ain’t the NFL. No big time legacies here. Yet.

2) Small market cities, that still don't know the difference between college ball, basketball, Nascar, and pro-sports. Crowd’s don’t cut it. Yet.

3) no Brett Hull. Yet. They need a big name turn-coat to authenticate league talent. Bring back Brady? (No, please don’t!)

4) Onward and Upward. Hate to say it, but Dwayne’s jumped from gig to gig faster than I change my panty liners. If this doesn’t pan out, he’ll be on to the next big film or hosting spot. I hope otherwise. I really do. Just dubious about the long term commitment.

Hoping for the best for off-season football. I really am. Something between NFL snd CFL that makes a go of it would fill my weekends with joy (and beer).

I like to be entertained! How about you?

Lots of good points raised on your part. I may be a little tough to win over with this go around of the XFL as I wasn't thrilled the first time. Still, I can remain cautiously optimistic that it may be smash mouth football at a new level.
