WTF is with the character limits?

Character limit is likely a cost factor.

I am willing to bet if Fred increased the PM limit and everyone had to pay to join PERB to cover the cost of the extra PM size then everyone would complain about having to pay - I would have thought most of the guys on this board are used to paying.....

You know how the internet goes. Everyone would just be off to the next free service.

What about raising the character limit but lowering the number you can store (with the exception of paid providers who could hold more)?

And/or giving messages an expiration date so people don't hang onto them forever just wasting server space?


As far as I'm concerned, I'd rather leave the time limit on than get spam.

The limit is a pain however I can see how increasing it will end up costing in the way of storage.

For those complaining about the 40 message limit including sent items, here's how I get around it.

Make sure you set your msgs to forward to an email address. Hotmail has what 5 gig of storage? LOTS of storage there

For those who want to keep a copy of a sent item, BCC yourself on any message you send and it too will show up in your email account.

Can't help you with the 1000 character limit but learning to live with it.

We try not to use it too often, its out of shape and hurts.

All the limits are set by the PERB server managers...
However, I will pass on the concerns to them. Over here in Toronto we have the same limits, I never get any complaints. However. It seems
folks out west are more wordy than those in Toronto so once I check with the server people I will see what I can do.
