Would you patron a business more (restaurant, theatre, gym etc) if they banned kids?

Im honestly tired of Kids, it doesnt matter where I seem to go, I will always find one nearby. Todays parenting skills are pretty much non-existent and the kids are spoiled brats running around and causing all sorts of trouble. No offense to any parents, I love kids however every once in a while Im looking for a quite time and not be disturbed by out of control kids.

Therefore coming back to my question, who else feels this way? I dont mind paying extra if there are businesses who can cater to people like us.

Yes, and especially adult-only airlines!
Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!

I'd pay double for that if it was dog friendly!

When I used to travel a lot with my dog, every time I was stuck on a flight with some kid screaming or crying for the entire duration of the flight while I knew my quiet, well behaved dog was stuck in cargo, I always thought those kids should be down there instead and my dog, damnit. Send the parents down there too if they complain, I don't care. It should not be determined by species but by behavior. Good kids and good dogs who get a good behavior certificate are welcome in the cabin. Don't have a good behavior certificate? Too bad, so sad, wear a warm sweater and I'll see ya when we land.

:pound::p

oh if only wishes came true. :p

But when it's a baby crying (and not a toddler having a tantrum), I always try to be tolerant because I remember a friend of mine telling me of her experience flying back from Asia with a baby to bring her to the Amish family in the US who had adopted her (but obviously couldn't fly there to get the baby themselves) and the baby cried the ENTIRE flight, some 10+ hours and she said she just wanted to die.  lol At some point, an old lady took the baby for a while to give her a break (and avoid total emotional breakdown) and she said she just sat in her seat, with her sweater over her head, just crying. LOL That sounds like hell. But yah, babies is something entirely different than spoiled kids having tantrums.

I have to say that flying is pretty much the only time I'm really bothered enough for it to make a difference. Maybe restaurant, I guess. But it's still not as bad as a plane where there really is nowhere to go, sometimes for many, many, many hours. lol

I agree with everything said in this thread. However, kids ARE humans too, and humans are regarded as the most precious species in the universe (yet we are nowhere near endangerment with 7 billion of us roaming the planet), after all, we are "God's (if it exists) chosen people" :) lol ...Anyway, if you need quiet time, don't expect it in public. You're right about parenting skills being non-existent, it's because intelligent people are not having any, and stupid people are multiplying like bacteria.

I get stuck on flights way too friggin often with screaming children throwing hour-long tantrums. One of my favourite pubs recently put up a sign that politely stated that if children would not behave themselves, the table would be asked to leave lol.

Yes. And I would love to live in a neighborhood with 10% of the dogs that are in mine now.

I agree, kids are out of hand these days! Drives me nuts. I'd also love most establishments to be dog free as I am allergic and a dog in a business can cause me a serious allergy attack. It especially pisses me off when it's somewhere like a massage therapy clinic where I am seeking treatment.

As for pets on airplanes that would be death for me. Even if it had been on that plane a previous flight the leftover hair and dander would result in labored breathing and swollen eyes etc. no thanks! I should be able to travel in good health!
Then there are parts of Europe you would not like so much. When I was in Dusseldorf, I was in a restaurant where two people walked in with dogs. The dog were really well-behaved but it still seemed wrong. When I asked my server if it was customary, she said it was. I told her if that happened in Canada, it would be considered a health code violation. She looked at me like I was from Mars.

I don't think it makes much of a difference if a place allowed kids or not BUT I do think their are some places that should not cater to families but try to and it sucks the fun out of it, like sporting events. If I pay $100 to watch a hockey game, I'd better be allowed to drop an F bomb from time to time. Also, I can't see how a place that serves copious amounts of alcohol can be considered family-friendly to begin with.

I love kids but there is a time and place for them when out in public.

If I am dropping a few hundred on a meal at a nice restaurant, I feel I deserve not to have to put up with some couple's screaming kids. Get a sitter for F**ks Sake!

If I am going to the Whitespot sure there will be kids there wanting their Pirate Packs. Good for them. :D

Sometimes after a 10 - 12 hr day I just want to read the paper, watch the sports on the Whitespot TV and chill out so I always ask for a seat at the bar. Even though I will only drink non alcoholic drinks when I drive I will sit in the bar without kids within earshot.

Airlines - If I am not in the front cabin I always get a bulkhead seat and put my headphones on for most of flight. I hardly notice any noise with those cancelling earphones :clap2:

Pets are allowed on air planes. Just not large ones... If it fits under the seat, it's allowed. I've seen people with cats and small dogs in the cabin. My dog's too big, that's why she rides cargo. But she gets peace and quiet AND gets to lie to down the whole flight. She's probably way more comfortable than all of us squeezed into small seats in the cabin. haha

But yah, small pets are allowed in the cabin. Many people with allergies like you have complained about this for years.

More than kids, what I hate is people with perfume in a restaurant.
They appeared to me very ignorant that they thought they can be sexier by having this artificial scent in a restaurant where the aroma of food is essential.

If unfortunately I sit beside one of those idiots, I have to suffer from smelling him or her.
