if you're considering marrying an sp then you're pretty much scraping the bottom of the barrell, so I wouldn't be fussy...
Cheerio!
And ladies, if you are considering marrying a man who pays women to f*ck them, you are scaping the bottom of the barrel too, so don't be fussy :)

I wouldn't, unless she has been out for a time. I don't know how long. In my experience, having a friend as a SP is tough enough. I do get worried, and I can't explain how it has changed her, not all for the better. There is a certain "locker room" humor which is fun at first, but does get tedious. Most of the stories are the same, so that gets tiring too. There are some truly funny things that happen in the course of work week, so we do have some good bellylaughs. So if you are OK with how she is now, then she will likely be fine when she retires. But when you bring up her past in anger, which you will, she's gonna walk.

I'm not a fan of marriage. Statistics show it doesn't work.I have been married. My parents are still married and are absurdly in love but rarely do 2 people get along for a lifetime and every relationship is a challenge but even when everything is perfect why do they have to be "married"? It seems such an ancient thing to me.. I'd prefer to spend a few weeks adoring my guy on a tropical island than have a piece of jewellry on my finger. There is always advantages and disadvantages in a sp situation and it can be stressful but easily overcome. There are far worse things that can occur and if 2 people are in love its just something you work out together. Pretty simple unless you make it otherwise.

A much broader proportion of the male population engages in the occassional whoremongering than the proportion of females who sell themselves.

And where a big name movie star like Hugh Grant, Senator, or Judge might get caught with a prostitute, it's pretty unheard of for a prominent woman to offer herself as a prostitute (at least on the open market).

It is a double standard, but the stigma isn't symmetrical. Now, when it comes to pooner compulsives such as us Perberts, well...maybe we shouldn't be the first ones to throw stones. Like peas in a pod.

I have a friend who married a stripper, I know it is quite a bit different than a working girl but you can apply the same logic. They are still happily married after 8 years. The big thing about them is that she had been out of it for a little while and they met at a restaurant. They dated and all that, fell in love with eachother and got married, of course she did tell him what she did during dating. If the two met outside the industry, it would be different.

As mentioned, it would be hard for myself to marry a working girl, knowing her history and all that.

I am wondering if we can hear from a few more of the girls and get their opinion on things.

Let me turn it around, my logic looking from the sp's side of things, there are guys out there that do this because they just want to have some good fun. And I am sure the girls have seen the guys that are in this looking for more. What is your opinion of these guys that are so desperate that they have to pay for a girl's time after watching "Pretty Woman" one too many times? I am sure most of these people are good guys, most of the guys on this board appear to be, but if I was a SP and realized how pathetically lonely a guy was, it would absolutely freak me out. You have to question the guys self confidence in this case. We all know that money talks, would any sp consider marrying that lonely/desperate of a guy with alot of money, who is seeking to find himself a "prize" wife? A guy is not all there if he is paying for a womans time seeking a relationship, that is my take on things.

Seymour Butts

On last nights episode of "Family Business," which is an entertaining show about a family run porn business, Seymour (Adam) decided he needed to date more "normal" woman instead of porn actresses.

He went on 2 dates from an internet site and when the chicks found out that he produced, directed and starred in porn things ended pretty quickly.

An interesting question from this is whether or not an sp is more likely to form a better, more lasting union with a pooner or nonpooner.

I think the real question is, would an SP marry YOU? (You in the generic, meaning me, you, any other pooner; not "You" as in georgebushmoron). :p

but i remember someone's tagline that read "the difference between paying for pussy & free pussy is that free pussy costs too much." Caveat poonmpter.

So say you met a working girl either independent or at an MP.... and you hit it off. So you start seeing each other outside of paid sex, like going out to movies and stuff. Then you get sex and its free. In the meantime, she keeps going with her job and doesnt seem like she has any intention of stopping. At the same time you sometimes pretend you're just a regular customer and visit her place of work and pay the usual and get the usual. But then other times you're calling each other and hanging out and then going to her place or yours and doing the deed as though she wasn't even a working girl. So then its pretty clear that its getting serious.

Would you marry her? Would you let her keep working, even if just for a little while (say a year) until she gets her shit together for a regular job? Or would you just let her keep working?

That is the question, "would they"? and if so "WHY"? A sp has to be aware that any guy paying for womans time with the intention of a relationship has some issues. And the guy has to realize that the SP must have some issues too and ask himself the same question ("why"?). This is real life, not a movie, it worked fine in concept and was a good story in Pretty Woman.

Marrying is full of challenges enough for normal guys and gals...

The Pretty Woman Myth

The question that I would like to ask, in conjunction with this one, is how many SPs are hoping to find a man to marry as a result of their involvment in the biz? How many SPs want to be the real life version of Julia Robert's character in "Pretty Woman" and are hoping that the next first-time customer they make an appointment with is their Richard Gere.

I am not asking this to be critical of the notion. I think, for the most part, this is simply wishful thinking, but the idea is not without presidence. I seem to remember a couple of threads from earlier this year with a discussion of marriages between SPs and clients that are known about in the Vancouver community. If I remember correctly, most of them have ended badly.

However, the Pretty Woman Myth must exist for some SPs.

Amen, brother. I have a resume that includes two marriages, with two divorces. In the process, I lost a house, three vehicles, a retirement plan, and my best dog. I sure miss that dog.

My favourite SP just asks for $$.

FAWK MAN! That sucks big time. They even took away man's best friend, your loyal buddy, the dog!!! What kind of cold heartless bitch wouldn't be happy with the house or vehicles that she has to take your dog too?

I have issues. Of BC Gardener and The Economist. That's because I filled out the subscription card. Not all SPs are damaged goods or looking to be saved. Some of us are 'normal' even (whatever that means).

Mav, I can give you her phone # and you can find out for yourself what kind of woman she is.
His name is Murray. He is a terrier/something else mix. A great dog. Bright eyes, never barked or grawled (except at the girl that trimmed his nails at the doggie salon, he hates that). He used to sit next to me when I read the paper. If I read a news story to him, he would respond with commentary. More than the wife used to do.
