Just because we can’t explain something or it doesn’t fit known scientific laws, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Until very recently there was no scientific explanation for why warmer water froze faster than cold water. Doesn’t mean the phenomenon didn’t exist simply because we had no scientific explanation for it.
With all of my social scientific training, I have to accept that there are things that are beyond our comprehension. And so I maintain an open mind over what can’t be explained rather than dismiss it. I believe there is more beyond the life and the dimension we are in now, and although the countless events that occur are normally dismissed as impossible or having some other explanation, that isn’t always the case.
What, for instance, am I to make of the experience my wife had when one of her brothers was dying a couple of years ago and she was back visiting her family. The ‘spirit’ of her oldest brother, who passed away back in the Vietnam War, took over the body of my wife’s niece and started to guide and interact the wider family in the last 48 hours of the life of my brother-in-law (I wasn’t there). The ‘spirit’ knew things that were secrets and no-one knew… reprimanding people and telling them to get their act together. The vessel for this ‘spirit’ was a teenage girl who afterwards said she was aware of what was happening, but had no control. There were probably 20 people present and saw this happening over a 2-day period. My wife is highly educated, sceptical and sees through bs in an instant. This was real to her. How do you explain that?
Or take the case of NDE’s (Near Death Experiences). I worked with someone who had one many years ago and he was in no doubt there was something beyond the physical life. Someone reminded me recently of Dr. Eben Alexander. Take a loot at this news story:

This is a neurosurgeon who did not have spiritual beliefs before this experience, and also knew that what happened to him was medically impossible. Do you think he is just making it up or there is actually a medical explanation? What about the other doctors who have also had a NDE? Some surveys suggest that somewhere between 4-5% of people have experienced a NDE. I'm not making any judgement on the validity or veracity of these results.

There is a peer-reviewed, academic journal devoted to investigating these (Journal of Near-Death Studies).

There is also an archive of accounts of NDEs that can be found here:

How about someone dying of Stage 4 cancer who miraculously lives. Take a look at Anita Moorjani. This is her TED Talk:

We might not be able to understand it. There may not be any scientific or rational explanation for these, but there are so many instances like this that it is foolish to dismiss them as all impossible or bunkum. There is more that we don't understand at this point in time...
Ms Hunter suggests that the lights/UFOs recounted here could be inter-dimensional in nature. Quite possibly, but again something we don’t have a rational understanding of, though there is mathematical evidence of multiple dimensions.

It is all interesting. It is all intriguing. I don’t and won’t dismiss it as impossible, even though I may not have a rational explanation for all of it.
There is a reason why I consider myself a spiritual being, as I believe we are all spiritual beings in essence living in a physical body.
