Who debated?
Don't worry, it was nothing important, just the future of your country.

Go back to sleep and the government will take care of everything.

How do you measure something like that?
I hate to agree with the comments from the Vice person afterwards (not that I have anything against Vice), but each won in their own way (that seems a very Canadian answer).
If you base it on who those who voted at the end felt would be the best Prime Minister, then Mulcair by a long shot (nearly double the next person, Trudeau).
But, that doesn't mean that Mulcair won the debate

Harper spouted his typical absolute bullshit speaking points.
Tory script: repeat sound bite regardless of questions or validity.
Nice to see him actually put on the spot and exposed as the liar he is. He gets away with way too much in question period and most media interviews.

Look left. Way left.
"This is a recording" Harper. Any question. Same answer. I know. I'm an economist. Not good enough to get a job doing it! Terrorists! Vote for me!!!

Oh I didn't think there were many C 36 supporters in here who like Harper's style of government :)
Well, just to be clear, I parroted a bit of Conservative babble with sardonic intent. I find Mr. Harper's style of government abhorrent.

It is true that I have not been favourably impressed with Mr. Trudeau. This is regrettable. I continue to search desperately for an alternative to Mr. Harper, one for whom I could vote with some enthusiasm. So far this goal has eluded me. I will vote against Mr. Harper, but probably not with enthusiasm for the candidate I do vote for.

The thing is I could have a Garden Gnome as a Candidate in my riding and it would get elected if it was a Conservative. I think my current MP is a Garden Gnome anyways. He wouldn't return my phone calls when I wanted to discuss the Coast Guard station being closed in Kits.

I recently spoke at length with some people from the Greens on my door step. They are not just a one trick pony and actually have platforms that I have started researching.

Brain freeze here. Can anybody help me? I knew there was a debate last night, but that was in the US. Was there also some kind of debate, or has this thread been led astray?

Yep. Maclean Leaders Debate in Canada. And there is a replay available up online.
May end up being the ONLY English debate with all four leaders from the national parties.
The election campaign is on in Canada, in case you hadn't heard that news (probably wouldn't in the US).

The Liberals have a good platform, but Trudeau's about a useful as a chocolate teapot. I'll probably end up voting NDP 'cuz in my riding all the others are just also-ran's.

If our political system didn't make it a wasted vote - Green would be the best choice. Despite her drunken meltdown a few months ago, May seems the most informed and intelligent of the lot of them.

Canada is to have a federal election in October. Mr. Harper dropped the writ this past Sunday. It is to be one of the longest federal election campaigns in Canadian history.

There was debate between four federal party leaders last night, the same night as the Republican debate in the US.

If you should happen to visit Vancouver between now and October, you will no doubt see the city cluttered with lawn signs and other campaign bumph.

Already had two kids from the PC's at my door this afternoon.
Really stupid arrogant and ignorant little pricks too, just like their leader. Probably spoiled little snots from the uber rich neighbourhood a few blocks away.
I told them it was a little early in the campaign to be committing to anyone. Well they did not understand that. They asked if they could put a PC sign on my yard and I said I wasn't committed to anyone yet. This went on for a while, these kids are idiots with no understanding of the real world. No knowledge of anything other than what is their handouts. No ability to debate anything other than their speaking points, actually their idea of debate is repeating them over and over. And disregarding your counter argument.
...I'm already sick of this campaign..

That is why Canada needs proportional representation.
