I need quick help and I am counting on PERB brotherhood to help me.

Any suggestions about white wine for a date with a fine SP I plan to see next week. Something that I can easily pick at BCLC. Somewhere around $20. Also, make sure the name is easy to say. lol, just kidding.

I will truly appreciate it. Also, if you could post replies asap.

I am just a regular guy who prefers Vodka with ... or without anything. (esp after the first drink, who cares what's or what isn't in it.) Pardon my lack of fine-taste-ness.
It is a rush.

T8E.

right here and now
Take8 I suggest Fancy Pants- a US white- $15.99/btl. Or Honest John's Rose- a BC blush- $16.99/btl. You can't go wrong with either choice. Enjoy!

Some very good VQA Whites are in stock at the private wine stores such as Liberty etc

Blue Mountain Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc. Burrowing Owl Chardonnay released this year is excellent. Smaller batches so you will have to buy it from a Private Liquor Store.

Italian Pinot Grigio's are typically in your price point and pair very nicely with most meals such as fish, chicken etc.

There are so many different styles of wine and wine drinkers. My suggestion would be the Grand Batteauax a white Bordeaux that is 100% Sauvignon Blanc.

If you have a sense of adventure the Ca dal Magro blend from the Veneto in Italy is incredible. It received the highest rating in the Gamberro Rosso this year. Both of these whites come in just under a Jade Canoe.

Both wines are at the LDB.

BTW if you want to go up a bit the 2 blends from BC winery Terravista are great efforts from BC wine legend Senka Tennant.

Apothic makes some great wines for an affordable price. :) Or at least I think so, haha.

How could I not listen to a beautiful lady on bed, with pearls around her neck.

Apothic White it is. I will see if it helps me get her in the mood a bit more.

I will file the report soon.

I like Oyster Bay's Sauvingon Blanc. I think it's around $23ish.

I wouldn't suggest bringing a blush wine to someone without knowing they like it. It's quite sweet and doesn't suit everyones taste.

Apothic's red is nice. I haven't actually tried their white.
Listen to her, she knows here stuff...though Oyster Bay is usually just $19.99 at the liquor store...sometimes on sale for $17.99...not that I..um..buy cases of it or anything. You can try the Chardonnay, but the SB is better in my opinion.

lol... ah, it's because I typically go to cold beer and wine stores and not the government stores hence my perception of the standard price.

I agree that their Sauvingon Blanc is better than their Chardonnay. Plus, Sauvingon Blanc is usually more of a crowd-pleaser (or date-pleaser in this instance) than Chardonnay.

But really, reds are where it's at.

Quick excerpt from Wine buying for dummies:
Hey BadgerJohn, do you also have some quick excerpts from "Sex Buying for Dummies" ??????

I could sure use some advice..............often I pay but don't get what was advertised, ......or they use clocks that were designed by Usain Bolt - they run very fast.
And lots and lots of other unsavory practices.

I would love to look at the "Quick Guide to Sex Negotiations"

" " " " " " " "Useful Terms for Describing Sex"

" " " " " " " "Easy Sex Identifier"

" " " " " " " "Buying Sex with Confidence"

so that I don't get ripped off too often..................

My advice... don't "TOFTT". Go with well-reviewed and respected ladies. Ahem.

Why would I know anything about "buying sex for dummies?"

Since, You've apparently written the book, by reciting verse and chapter it looks like.
As I have no reason to read it.
It was meant to be a 'tongue in cheek comment'.

The verses I was reciting came from your post # 5, entitled: "Quick excerpt from Wine buying for dummies"..... I just substituted the word "wine' with the word "sex", but you obviously missed that.

Back to a White Wine Thread Guys . . . . .

Too True Claire.

I was scrambling on Thanksgiving to have some White Wine available. Every bottle in my rack was either a Pinot Noir, Syrah, or Cab Sauvignon etc from BC, Oregon and California.

Hey Badge, badbadboy, and Ms. Monet, Galileo Galilei, once described wine as light held together by moisture.

With apologies to Peyton Anders....Sorry to be differential but I would absolutely NOT recommend this wine if you're trying to impress someone who appreciates decent wine. It's sweet, flabby and has no acidity whatsoever. Sweet wines are fine but the sugar needs to be balanced with a good amount of acidity. I almost gagged when I tried this wine. Same goes for the red. Flabby and lots of sweet red berry flavours and to round it off it's as if they add sugar to it and it becomes one, big sticky mess in a glass. Even at $16.99 a bottle there are better wines available out there. One I was impressed with is from Spain called "Borsao" and it's dry, crisp with a medium finish. The grape is Macebo and it sells for $14.99 at almost every LBD. It's good on its own as an aperitif or with seafood.

Another one I like is a Pinot Grigio by Tommasi and it's $19.99 at most LDBs.

BBB has some excellent suggestions above from BC and Marquis Wine Cellars is an excellent place for rare, hard to find wines. They even have a sampling table where they let you try their new releases. Everything Wine is not bad but the staff I find aren't anywhere near as knowledgeable as at Marquis Wine.

Panther dash makes a very valid point. Wines like Apothecary who's red is one of the worst wines I've ever had, Cupcake, the Show (Joel Gott's' attempt to make shitty wine in every country on the planet) are not for real wine drinkers. I'm not trying to insult anyone here.

All over the globe there are family run wineries who put generations of work into the bottle. Real wine aficionados and industry people appreciate their efforts. Much like the difference between the products one buys at a Farmer's Market and the crap they sell at Save On Foods.
