Don't you just hate it when you're in the middle of reading a thread and it disappears?

It has happened to me three times in two days.

That can happen a number of ways:

1. The writer deletes or edits his post.

2. Admin deletes either a thread or some of its posts.

Either way, it's their prerogative...

It would appear to be the Mod deleting the threads and of course it is their prerogative...but with all the threads of late that have been started and then removed there are a lot of half finished thoughts.

For example it appears that in one of the recently removed threads out there, two SP's had resolved some issues from the last week. If I had not been in the middle of reading the thread as it was deleted I would have written off one of those Sp's on my list of individuals to see because of the treatment of the other Sp.

If I hadn't read that the two of them appeared to be back on track, I would not have thought too highly of the one Sp and I think that there are others like myself out there and someone's business can take a hit because of unresolved issues.

Just like in every relationship in life, no matter what it is, when communication fails so does the relationship.

Mods

have enough to deal with without having to worry about wether someone is still reading a thread or in the middle of a thought..if a thread has been removed it's for a very good reason ..wether you can see that reason or not can't be worried about by the Mod..that is not to offend you but remember that there are thousands of threads and posts to deal with on this site..unfortuanately Mods are not going to make everyone happy but that's just life..what they do is on a volunteer basis..they need our support not our constant complaining about missing threads and posts..if one is that concerned then pm the Mod to ask what happened..but Im very sure he had a good reason for removing it..;) and in this case the Mod may not have been the one that deleted it..you're only guessing at this point

ps ..as a matter of fact..even if it was passed the 24 hr point the member who started the thread can still ask for it to be deleted no matter for what reason..members were always pming me with links to their posts and threads asking me to delete or edit them...from just one memeber on one occassion 6 pms with at least 5 links per pm to deal with..and that is just one member..

Chuck, why isn't the stuff in the offending POST just deleted with the mod saying *edited*, I've seen it before and thought it was great. Also if people want their post changed can't they be told "no sorry it can't be done, next time think carefully before you post"? Technically it can't be done, there aren't enough volunteers to change/fix every little thing!

I think the problem members are having is they are questioning the integrity of this site as a means of researching STW's. If one strong willed STW has negative reviews removed, then how many people need to TOFTT, and be potentially ripped off? Noone wants to take expensive chances like that.

However, if the STW has another story of a rude/abusive customer who tries to blackmail said STW with a bad review, the onus is on the STW to come forward with said accusations/explanations in her/his own defence. I believe that hearing that other side will allow people to make their own educated decision. Then IF more and more people come back saying "she shorted me my time as well", then the STW should learn that an hour is an hour is an hour. Offer to cuddle or "something" til the time is up, or suffer the negative publicity. Cause and effect, it's simple.

If I was reading restaurant reviews on a restaurant review site and saw negative reviews disappear, I would wonder if there was corruption/misinformation going on, and who was really behind the scenes. Thats all.

yes but he isn`t even talking about a review for one..and we have no clue as to why it was deleted or if it is in fact deleted..just because you can`t see it does not mean it`s gone...it is very time consuming and in the situations I mentioned, (the member asking for their own posts to be dealt with in what ever form THEY wanted) I eventually said exactly what you suggested however it is essentially their post or thread and they can do with it basically what they want wether the Mod wants to spend the time doing it is also another story....the only reason I mentioned it is that members on this site or some of them tend to cry conspiracy a little too much everytime something disappears..I don`t even know which post dave tv is talking about..it was not a review and who knows why it disappeard..as you mentioned Mods are volunteer , they are not being paid by anyone and are not here to say "how high" every time a member says jump...editing and deleting threads and posts comes with the territory and with a site with a large amount of content it can be a very thankless task..yes posts can be edited..but sometimes depending on the situation one ends up doing so much editing the thread no longer makes sense..or you get a multipage thread that would actually take hours to edit..that is the judgement of the Mod wether the thread is worth wasting the time to edit or also depends on the situation at hand..as I mentioned all we are doing is speculating here as to what thread is being talked about and why it is no longer in open forum..that is just silly ..just pm the Mod as he has requested in the Rules thread he has posted , and ask him..and if he does not get back to you right away remember that the volunteer may have a LIFE outside the board..

....the only reason I mentioned it is that members on this site or some of them tend to cry conspiracy a little too much everytime something disappears..I don't even know which post dave tv is talking about..

No you don't...I'm not even sure anymore...there were more than one, and I'm not crying conspiracy. It just seems that when it appeared to be getting some (for lack of a better word to use) closure on an issue, the thread is gone. As I said at the beginning of this thread, don't you just hate it when it happens....thats all.
