So an unsealed envelope shows up in my mail box not addressed to me. So I peek, they is a cheque inside, an nice amount. So I think is there any way to descreatly pocket the money. I know it is wrong but we are not exactly the morallity police around here are we? All I can think of is to endorse it and exchange it for good in a private sale and hopefully resell the goods for cash. Any thoughts. I have also thought of doing the right thing and anom dropping it off at the adresses house.

Id return it probably someones rent money. You cant retire from trying to cash it and doesnt sound like it's that much money.

if check isn't payable to you, then it's fraud to cash it

Is it enuf money to leave the country with? Do you think they couldn't trace it back to you? Between using your account to cash it, and the security cameras everywhere,, why do you think for a moment you could get away with cashing it?

Bad Karma or Dharma dude! (I always get the two mixed up)

The bottom line is you will have to live with whatever you do.

The reflection that looks back at you everyday in the mirror can be a bitch if you knowingly did something to hurt another person.

Not only fraud but forgery as well!

If it's a large enough amount of money to make it worth risking committing these crimes, then it is probably large enough to get LE interested enough to find you through all kinds of evidence they may encounter, such as your post right here, along with other things people have mentioned! If the amount is small enough that you don't think they would get that interested in finding you, then it is probably also small enough to make it not worth taking the chance! Either way, whether you tried to pass it off at a bank, or sign it over to someone else in exchange for something (if you could even find a seller williing to take that knd of payment), it's not worth it.

Now, had it been an envelope full of cash...:)

Since when is an exchange of service for money between two consenting adults even comparable to stealing money?
I don't get the comment about morals.

I agree with what others have said.... being an escort/seeing escorts hardly constitutes as being a low life.. and cannot be compared to theft.
Yeah, I was wondering the same things... I applaud him for asking for opinions before acting, and I'll bet that he decides to try to return the check. But why the put down of the rest of us regarding our morals? Since he's been a member since 2007, just doesn't seem to fit!

What Hubba said. It's pretty pathetic that you'd even need to think about what to do.

Karma shmarma -- it's simply wrong.

I guess it is obvious that there are "morals police" on this board.

And, as for Anna pointing out that prostitution is legal, as compared to the crime being contemplated, more importantly, participating in prostitution is not necessarily immoral. Morality and legality are two very different things that sometimes coincide.

I participate regularly in illegal activities that I do not remotely consider immoral.

Between the legs of a HOT SP!!
Do the right thing and don't cash the cheque, give it back to the rightful owner.

Karma is a bitch and you will get bitch slapped if you play games.

If it was found cash, then I'd say keep it...but this, you've got the guys address. It's not like you can pocket it and spend it, you actually have to go to some effort to steal/defraud/forge.

Seriously? How is it being cash any different?

Notice I said found cash...like if you walked down the street and their was a bag of $100 bills, basically if there was no way (or very difficult) to identify who it belonged to.

The Bunny has strong opinions on taking what is not yours knowingly. Not a good thing to do. As for finding $$ cash form; last week I paid for an item and received 2 twentys and a 10 in change. After placing the change into my open purse while still standing at the til I looked down a moment later to see the 2 twentys laying at my feet. I was embarrassed, careless to be dropping money, I felt horrible that I had been so thoughtless with the money to just let it fall without ensuring I had it tucked away.

And then the worst thing possible happened. I got to my car, drove away and at the next red light went to tuck the 2 twentys still in my hand into my wallet only to find 1 ten and 2 twentys laying loose in my purse ...crap. The store I was in when I found the $ was a store where people on a very tight budget might go to get what they need. I had stopped in as a matter of habit and convenience (I'm sooo not beyond bargain shopping). I could not have felt worse. When I picked the 2 twentys up the man in line behind me was looking, now all I could think was, he might have seen it there the whole time and was thinking "PayDay" and was maybe waiting for me to move my fat feet off the bills and give him the chance to feel like something great had happened that day. Sigh.

The money stayed with me only about 30 minutes. I left it as a tip for my regular lady at Tim Hortons when I purchased my extra large steeped tea, triple, triple. She did not question my motive nor did she attempt to refuse the tip. It was like she understood it was something I really needed to do. It's called Karma.

If the check is not yours, return it.
If you find $$ that you truly do not need, but know someone who does, perhaps give it away.
Karma works both ways, return for good and bad gestures ...my suggestion is do as much good as time will allow in your life and you will be a very content Bunny ...errrrr, person. ha.
