No matter how you look at it this covid operation is a masterpiece in manipulation, misinformation and proof of how fucked up the society is.
Isolation will not stop the virus from spreading, it will reduce the speed at which it spreads.
This is one of the reasons the medical system (funded by our tax money) exists: to deal with this kind of emergencies. I am sympathetic for the medical staff that is on the front line but that is their job and that's why their getting paid for. They may get overwhelmed - yes.
First thing the government should have done is build quarantine hospitals like the china did and ask for volunteers to help and train them and isolate them as well.
Should we bring any covid suspect in a regular hospital? No. Bringing any covid suspect into a regular hospital may be a death sentence for existing patients.
So what is the government doing rather than taking measures to deal with the situation? The government basically says to everyone go hide so you don't catch the virus and don't spread. Has that actually worked ever? And the reason is not to overwhelm the medical system. Like it's better to fuck up all the economy and the society rather than manage the whole crisis like a crisis. This is an actual coup. Lack of information everywhere. I want to know a list of infected people where they are and who they are and that needs to be public if the danger is so great. Fuck privacy. But the truth is the tests are not 100% accurate and you can''t tell 100% that people who died they died because of this.
Is there any verifiable source of information on how many cases there are and how exactly people were tested, the type of tests used, who are these people so we can be sure they are accounted for properly and so on?
In times of war first thing that gets distorted is the information. With or without accurate information in situation of war or crisis, the governments should be able to take decisions with little or no information, or by knowing the information may be inaccurate. The fastest and therefore most suspicious decision were the bailouts and the printing of money which will send us on the spiral of inflation with or without virus. We are stepping into a nazi state.

History repeats itself.

I'm hearing that best case scenario, we're back to work in July, but probably more like Sept.
Probably going to see body temp scanners and more screening at airports, and a lot of restaurants go under, but with a few to take their places. Taxes will obviously go up.

Yes. During the 1918 Flu Pandemic (aka known erroneously as the Spanish Flu). It is generally agreed that the cities in the US that had more aggressive containment efforts not only reduced mortality, but fared better economically in the five years following the pandemic.

From the MIT news:

“The best-performing cities included Oakland, California; Omaha, Nebraska; Portland, Oregon; and Seattle, which all enforced over 120 days of social distancing in 1918. Cities that instituted fewer than 60 days of social distancing in 1918, and saw manufacturing struggle afterward, include Philadelphia; St. Paul, Minnesota; and Lowell, Massachusetts.”

I do agree with you that there is/will be a power/money grab going on here. The $2 trillion US stimulus package is overwhelmingly going to the pockets of the wealthy and large corps. It’s just part of the capitalism playbook. Naomi Wolf’s “The Shock Doctrine” lays out how profiteering works in times of crises in pretty good detail. Why else would you see Donald Trump’s son in law (Jared Kushner) with no training in epidemiology or logistics suddenly be in control (if not in name, but in action) of those operations. And he is doing so representing a private corporation with no oversight.

As far as taking our rights away, we shall see. But at this point, in the face of a grave threat, no government in North America has imposed martial law. From my perspective, in Canada, it seems every level of government is trying to avoid that option.

FYI, the 1918 pandemic claimed an estimated 50 million people worldwide (17 million in India alone - just less than half of Canada’s population today). Folks who claim that the flu kills more people annually than Covid19 has are comparing an annual number with a number for Covid19 at month 3.5. It is a logical fallacy that has deceived many. Let’s see where the Covid19 number is at 12 months.

I don't think a nazi state requires a Fuhrer or if the Fuhrer is the worst thing to fear in a nazi state.

In my view a nazi state is when your neighbor that you use to chat with everyday and help each out will call the snitch line to turn you in because they saw you talking to other people from less than 6ft. Or parents of other kids won't let their kids play with your kids anymore because they saw your kids playing with other kids or because your kids are not vaccinated while their kids are. Or if someone finds out you see sex workers. Or if you are a sex worker seeing clients.
Basically at one point an individual's actions that were normal until yesterday and absolutely harmless to another individual, these actions start being perceived as dangerous by the other individual. Also the state opens the door to turning people in.

In a nazi state everybody fears everybody.
It starts by walking 6 ft away like maniacs and wearing face masks when they are alone in their own cars.

Sounds more like George Orwell’s 1984.

We could just do nothing, then. Wait until the death toll rises, and then try to react, and kick ourselves for not reacting sooner.

I love perusing Perb lounge and always grab my popcorn before I do. If only these interactions were filmed as real-life ones, I would bet that it would be a better pooning version of Tiger King.

This is beyond a doubt one of the most ignorantly funny posts I have ever read on PERB. Addicted wants a list of the “infected”, and then expresses concern about a nazi state! Lol

the Spanish flu pandemic which is probably the only comparable event.

Uh, the Spanish Flu killed about five percent of the population in India, which would equate to 68 million dead today.

They are up to one-hundred-and-thirty-six individuals dead at this point.

Do you really anticipate this being at all comparable when it's over???

Most people will survive this virus just fine. Only the elderly and immune suppressed need worry. We have shut down the planet for less than one percent of the populations safety. The rates reported are inaccurate as they are only testing those with severe symptoms, The virus will no doubt mutate but that is actually likely a good thing. If a virus kills you it can't spread as it dies with you. It should become less deadly with mutation not more.
you sound like a real ignorant asslicker!
