Wheelie, you should really stop talking logically and making sense, otherwise Miss Bijou won't understand what you're saying.
oh aren't you a comedian!..
Go back to your whining, you're much better at it than at being funny. Nice try though, A for effort. Too bad you don't know what you're talking about.

Your logical comments might have made sense to Mick here, but I'm afraid they are a little flawed:

1- My ad in the review section is usually viewed more times than the one in the advertisement section.

2- as more SP's post theirs in the advertising section than pooners write reviews, our ads in the reviews section stay on the first page longer or the same as they do in the advertising section.

Honestly, I do not care where we post them and if it's decided that we no longer can, big deal... so we'll all post them in the advertising section only. Whatever. As Nina said, obviously we're all going to post them in the reviews section if everyone else is and we want ours to be seen as well.

So whatever is decided, I'll go with it.. but I'm done this ridiculous debate. Have at it, whine away.

oh christ, another prima donna SP who has to have the last word, too bad its us pooners who have the last word, as in seeing you or not, piss us guys off at your own risk princess

I guess if the majority of hobbyists is against and find it annoying it should be respected.

Guys dont be as hard on your girls :D

be nice if you cannot be good... at the end of the day we are all planning to make love and not war :D No?

Heidi Heisss

thank you for your understanding our frustration Heidi, you seem to comprehend that there is a difference between advertising in the proper section and spam. my best wishes for you!

oooooh can you feel the power now? is it making you hard?

Don't worry about it... kissing your ass isn't part of my services so you'd be disappointed. Anyone else NOT on a little power trip realizes I'm entitled to my opinion and it has very little to do with things once we're naked. :D Seriously, your little bit is getting old (and I don't mean the one in your pants ;) ).... it makes you sound like a jerk and is not likely to work on me, so get over yourself for a minute. It actually goes both ways and the feeling is mutual here: I much prefer you keep your money as it doesn't buy you the right to take away my opinion or make me have to agree with whatever you say. There are much cheaper and inflatable options for this kind of service.

Have a nice day.

A view from outside

WOW! I guess this is why guys like me are lurkers. I wouldn't want to voice an opinion and have Miss Bijou think I'm attacking her rights.

I read these boards to get an idea of who I should be spending time with in the different cities I visit from time to time. Attitudes in the posts by SP's does not give me that warm and fuzzy to book and I am sure many others feel the same IMHO. If you are a paid advertiser then you should have some extra priviledges granted to get your moneys worth. After all, that is part of what keeps these boards running. However, don't you think you may be shooting yourself in the foot by attacking the very people you are targeting with your ads.

If someone has an opinion as to why a change should be made, then they need to voice it, in the area that it applies. There is nothing wrong with that, is there? Why not make it just that, for reviews?

Personally I skim past many of the "ADS" because they appear to me to be the same ones over and over again. I would love to be able to read the "Reviews" and actually get a single page of reviews to read.

Just my view from outside.

we're reading and watching.
I don't think we can eliminate ads from the review forums. However, some sort of controls may be in order.
Please PM us with comments.

M-1

I think PM'ing Moderator-1 will help.

Please send your PM's to him and let's get this straightened out. Let's have a trial period with no ads in the review section.

We will look in the local ad section anyway. The ads in the review section just clutter the section up.

oh seriously, give me a break.
I simply posted a tongue-in-cheek reply and while I got a normal response from Rimas, I came back to find 2 others making all kinds of irrelevant comments out of nowhere because for some reason I guess they were offended by my smart ass JOKE. And I'm not supposed to react to that?

Yes, you're all allowed to find it annoying. I never said otherwise and I personally don't care where we post or whatever rules are decided. But throwing bs insults my way is bound to get a reaction out of me. I didn't come join the discussion telling anyone off or throwing insults. I made a joke. OMG. What was I thinking?!

UGH.

Why is this posted in the reviews section, hmm????

Rants are not reviews, and should be in the general discussion... If I wanted to read someone's rants, I'd got to the general discussion to read it... not the reviews section.

I mean, come on here... get with the program! ;)

hehe :p :p

In all honesty, I wonder why some of you care SOOOOO much about this, but hey, if it bothers you THAT much.. *shrug*

Like these comments were called-for in any way shape or form!?

Funny how this is coming from one of the worse offenders. It's Holyier Than Thou attitudes like Miss Bijou's, that explains why the review sections are now the way they are.

Being a paid contributor does not give you Carte Blanche to do what ever you want. There are rules to be followed. Comprendez-Vous?

you got it rimas, i just put the offending ones on ignore, so she's just wasting her advertising dollars of PERB, cuz none of my hard earned cash goes to her attitudeness, so shes kind of like spam huh? easily deleted or tossed in the trash/recycling

mick, no matter how bad your french (spelling) is, its still miles ahead of her "entitled" attitude on PERB

oh christ, another prima donna SP who has to have the last word, too bad its us pooners who have the last word, as in seeing you or not, piss us guys off at your own risk princess

Nice little boys club you have there!
You, woman. Me, big strong man. You sit pretty and shut up. I'll just take a few shots at you, but don't talk back, just take it and shut up... cause me, big strong man and you, hysterical little woman. Oh please, give me a break.

Anyone who feels compelled to remind me, himself and everyone he's got some kind of power over me or what I say because of his money and does so in every single post he makes, has got some issues. And sorry, if he directs his non-sense at me, better believe I'm telling him what's on my mind.

It's simple.. Don't want to get me going? Then don't insult me.
But now that you've got me on ignore, we should all be happier... so good move, keep me there.

err, you do know that "princess" is not a term of endearment dont you sweetie? (btw sweetie is being used in a condecending manner here)

hard? HARDLY after reading your posts and looking at your photos, even viagra would be of no use, really, you are not worthy of my me

kissing my ass? no thank you, of course maybe if somebody would put your fat ass over their kness and give you a paddling like you desreve, then we wouldnt be subjected to your attitude

feel free to make any comments/exercise your opinions all you like darling (note the sarcasm), you just keep digging the hole deeper and deeper, and remember we too are entitled to our opinions

dont worry about seeing my money at any point in time, id rather invest in an inflatable date that comes with loads more personality and way less drama than you

ever read your posts on the board, you come across as entitled, that we owe you something, that we should kiss the ground you walk on, that you are special, fuck that, you aint worth it, and you are not special

but thats just my opinion, you know just like you have yours right, or can we not have our opinions

hint: you will not be getting the last work, and if you dont want to get me going dont insult me and the pooners, you know the guys that you make a living off of (though probably less of a living nov)

so get your nose out of the air, your shit stinks just like everybody elese, and have a nice life, be waiting to see your month end make the rent specials with all the pooners you have insulted

E-mails and online Posting

We really don't like to stifle dialogue or debate on perb-especially when it's coming from long time members, posters and intelligent people who are making valid points
(and the first person who comments back saying "...yes, but so-and-so isn't intellegent..." is gonna get whomped!)

I would like to add a few observations:
1. tongue in cheek is very difficult to pull off when done in an e-mail. This is true between people who are well acquainted with each other. It's even more problematic between individuals who are only known through their online personas. (personae)
2. In spite of the fact that we're all "citizens" there are east-west cultural differences between what's considered appropriate to say (write) and what may be considered nasty.

Suggestions:
1. Avoid negativety in posts.
2. Do not post in the heat of passion or anger. Tomorrow is another day. We'll still love you if you decide to post after you've had a sober second rethinking of the issue.

This review board has long since gone downhill for anything other than BC reviews it seems.

https://perb.cc/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=62603
If Vancouver seems better policed it is because it is. Not because the mods pay more attention to it but because there are 1/2 dz or so very vigilant SP`s who send us PM`s when things go amiss. If you want Calgary and Edmonton to be similarly policed then might I suggest you stop complaining and act on it? Send us PM`s with links to the offending threads and we will look into it.

We cannot review every post in every thread in every forum - we can`t fix it if we don`t know it is broken. Maintaining PERB is a shared responsibility.

try my best not to be such a smart ass... not very easy, kinda just me.

I agree but in all honesty, I guess I was wrong in assuming that adding the following after my statement made my intentions obvious: :p :p hehe

I'm not debating, I just think I've written posts far more sarcastic than the one on this thread, that were taken for what they were..
But then again, I've just had a "Aaah" moment about the impressively angry little man, one I should have had far earlier... I'll admit. wow. That's quite something.
I'm getting the hell outta his sandbox. <------ this is a joke. :) :p ;) :p :D :D

2. In spite of the fact that we're all "citizens" there are east-west cultural differences between what's considered appropriate to say (write) and what may be considered nasty.

I'm not sure about this one though? What do you mean? <-------- I am being serious, the question was not a joke....although i'll admit that this comment kind of is  lol

now if this is truly the case, and you really are finished and leaving the sandbox, could you please be so kind as to explain (in writing) the rather nasty and childish pm's you have been sending me this morning at: 12:56, 01:39 and 01:40

please remember to keep your advertising in the advertising section in the future, because as per BCMODs post, it would appear that there will now be quite a number of insulted board members reporting your frequent violations

good luck on your upcoming "need to make the rent" month end specials

p.s. you and geting the last word, not gonna happen

Proper organisation of this place, with real monitoring and enforcing rules would make it an even playing field for everyone.
This whole thread seems kind of a tempest in a teapot as far as I'm concerned.....;) I see little wrong with going to one place to see both reviews and who's in/coming to town. Actually convenient...

Perhaps one solution would be an advertising section for each city just as there is a review section for each city. Just as I'm not usually that interested in other city reviews, I'm not really interested in sorting through touring/advertising announcements for Calgary/Edmonton/Saskatchewan/Winnipeg to see who is visiting Calgary.

My thoughts are the same.
Each larger city should have it's own heading, the rest of the smaller towns would be grouped together into a 'other towns in province' headings.

Each city needs its own subcategories- reviews, ads, 411, neighbourhood watch, buy and sell, etc.

Ditch the 'perb advertisers only' section.. it's redundant when advertisers have their own city to place their ads in.

Don't allow anyone to advertise in review sections. The advertisers will have the right place to place their ads, so won't need to clog up the review areas.

simple, no?
I'm sure it's easier said than done, though...
xoxo
Nina
Exactly right, and it's been suggested many times before over the past several years, including by yours truly. Unfortunately, whether or not the mods agree, the board's owners seem to think it's perfect the way it is. They seem to think Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, Saskatoon and Winnipeg pooners and SPs always share the same interests anc concerns. They don't.

I never look at the PERB Advertisers forum, and I highly doubt any other Winnipeggers do either. It's dominated by Alberta SPs. I think the local and visiting SPs know that, so they advertise in the regional review forums instead. After all, obviously they wish to reach as many possible clients as possible - more bang(s) for the buck.

I've noticed that Mod-1 is a great addition to the perb. He's (assuming he's a he!) been very helpful, ethical and pleasant and perhaps he's willing to go to bat for us.

Changes that make the site easier to navigate, reduce double and triple posted ads, and make the members happier will make this board better, no?

xoxo
Nina
Nina, you are a voice of reason. It's nice to see that some SPs get it.

Isn't this the real reason this thread was started? Someone thought that there was a way to make things better around here. A separate advertising section for each major city is right on the mark IMHO. Traversing the ads and then finding corresponding reviews would be much easier.
