What The Hell Is Going On Here?

I come over here to read some Calgary reviews and all I see is Spam ads from an over abundance of visiting SPs. In fact 14 of the 17 threads on the first page was SP advertising. Is it just me or do the rest of you guys think this is getting out of hand?

I don't care if they are paid advertisers or not. This stuff should be in the Advertisers Forum only. Isn't that what it's there for?

Why a general Advertiser's Forum for all of Alberta?

Maybe there should be a separate Calgary and Edmonton Advertiser's Forum or the Advertiser's Forum should be simply removed. I think the ads get lost there and the ladies want to maximize their exposure, so to speak.
Personally, I don't have a problem with the ads in the Calgary and Edmonton Forums as this is where I generally head first... but thanks for watching out for our best interests! Lol!

The PERB advertisers forum is for this not the review section.

I`ve already tried to complain about it.

This review board has long since gone downhill for anything other than BC reviews it seems.

If it wasn`t for BCMod explaining things to me in the polite manner that he did I wouldn`t be posting here anymore.

According to the `rules` a travelling SP can post one AD in the review section of the city she is visiting.

Makes no sense to me as there is an AD section already. It`s redundant. I`ve complained but it is the rule to allow the ads.

It is a bunch of SPAM bullshit but that is just the way it goes here.

Which begs the question as to why some SPs are placing an ad every single day. Not only when they`re here but weeks before they arrive!!!
Just recently there was a certain Westcoast SP who was placing several ads every day. Just because bookings are slow shouldn`t be our problem.

The way I interpret Rule 6 is that an SP is allowed to post ONE ad in the review section and ONE ad only!! I`m sure the majority of guys here wouldn`t have a problem with that. Right now that priviledge is being abused.

Come on Mods, clean it up for us who just want to read posts. If we want to see ads we can go to that section.

Is it because SLIM posts such XXXXcellent and witty reviews that the rest of the pooners are intimidated???
With all due respects to SS, I don't think so.

One reason is that lots of guys tend to see the most popular SPs who have already been reviewed on the board a number of times.

With all the clutter in the review section I should just stop posting there and just lurk.

If I want to see who is coming to my city I LOOK in the Calgary ADVERTISING section.

It's not that difficult of a concept.

We check the reviews for new and interesting information regarding our hobby as it applies to actual shared experiences. We check the advertising section for information on who's in town, who's got specials, etc. Separate and distinct needs.

Let's face it, I don't know anyone who enjoys sorting through a mass of flyers and ads when trying to get at real mail. Same applies.

Funny how this is coming from one of the worse offenders. It's Holyier Than Thou attitudes like Miss Bijou's, that explains why the review sections are now the way they are.

Being a paid contributor does not give you Carte Blanche to do what ever you want. There are rules to be followed. Comprendez-Vous?

you got it rimas, i just put the offending ones on ignore, so she's just wasting her advertising dollars of PERB, cuz none of my hard earned cash goes to her attitudeness, so shes kind of like spam huh? easily deleted or tossed in the trash/recycling

Posting a weekly ad in the review section when I'm visiting? Hm. Yeah. Cause I'm allowed, not much of an offense.

What the hell does that have to do with 'holier than thou' attitudes? WHAT are you talking about? The freakin' section's DEAD.. how would that have anything to do with me, or the fact that I or others post ads we are entitled to post? My post was just stating my amusement with the fact that this is some big huge deal for you and you just keep whining about it. Why? Why do you care SO much? You don't want to see the ads..? How about writing some REVIEWS in the review section? That would make the ads move to the 2nd, 3rd page and keep the content changing and interesting. Bitching about it, when there are barely any reviews being written which is why all you can see are ads, is completely pointless.

Because even if your wish is granted and the ads are no longer permitted..... Guess what? You still have no new content or reviews. All you'll have are old reviews and still barely anything being added. So complaining about things that have absolutely no relevance to your issue to begin with, or complaining about this girl or that girl won't miraculously solve your main problem: The lack of reviews being posted.

So, if you think it's holier than thou attitude (I really don't get what this has to do with it, but hey) or you think I'm one of the worse offenders (Oooooh Now I've really done it! ), or *gasp* you think my attitudeness (lol) is not worthy of your pooning dollars (Bah! ...but, I'd also post the ad in the proper forum. If activity is a lot busier here than in the Advertiser's forum, that would mean that my ad would stay on the first page longer, and not be buried by all the reviews and griping. That means people will see it over a longer period of time without having to repost it all the time.
