Anyone have the chance to live on football fields of land by yourself and come home to peace and quiet. Just you and the TV, computer and solitude. Sounds like heaven to me.

I bought 80 acres back in the 90s.
It’s nice.
You need a little tractor with a blade for the driveway. And there’s the septic field that takes work.
The only annoyance is assholes wanting to hunt on the property.

I grew up on a farm.. had its pros and its cons. We didn't have a TV.. or a computer. Had solitude. Not a lot of socialization. I read a lot of books. Don't miss moving to the city, but I enjoy camping and getting out into the wilderness. I think a balance is best.

Have 2.5 acres in the forest & it’s pure bliss . I rescue dogs as my other “gig” so it’s heaven . Nothing better 🌻Naked gardening 😗

My brother built his house on an acreage on one of the Gulf Islands.
His setup costs were very high. He had no electricity and it cost thousands per pole from the road to his house.
Any tradesman like plumber or electrician can cost a lot if you are out in the country. In my brother’s case, because he is a ferry ride from Nanaimo he had to pay the ferry round trip for the guy’s truck and a whole day’s pay.
But island life is paradise.

Around 4740 Canadian football fields. Go Bombers!
It isn't always peace and quiet.

Depends how big your land area is. Also if fenced in, you shouldn't have to worry about hunters. In the states landowners just shoot tresspassers. Here its probably best to keep a gun that has no serial number and place near the dead body....
If you have an acreage, one of the best things to build would be a greenhouse for cheap veggies in winter....
Probably have to get the Elons satelite subscription.
A woodshop/metal work shop/ forge.
Solar power array.
Garden.

FYI - fences don't stop hunters, especially if there is game on the other side.

I live on 60 hectares, can't hear or see any other sign of human life. Wonderfully quiet.
3 km driveway. Dedicated plow truck.
3 hours from the closest shopping center. Means you have to be organized re food and supplies.
Have to maintain and fix all the machines/vehicles.
It is a shitload of work. Never ends. Never bored.

Finally somebody that outlined that it is alot of work...
It really does come down to a lifestyle choice, and one has to realize that the peace and serenity comes at a cost.
I`ve seen too many city raised people move to the country with there push mower and oversized snow pushers, and I can not help but chuckle.
Not to demean anyone, but you have to realize that anything great in life requires sacrifice.

When I lived in the country, I loved having dogs.
I would never even consider it living in the city.
As Westwoody said, living in the country with your pets can have its perils.

I guess you need to put up signs for no hunting/tresspassing. Put up wireless cameras (that upload to the cloud to retain video) etc to protect your land. Apparently in Canada you have to ask permission of the land owner to hunt on their property.
Even if game wardens are hunting down animals, they should be informing you (in the case of wounded animals, which can be dangerous).
Really neat thing I seen on the web is an automatic paint gun/bean bag gun that shoots at intruders....

Raccoons are in the Assiniboine river areas of west Winnipeg. One killed my next door neighbours’ cat.
