Racoons? Near willams lake. Never seen them in the 80’s
It could depend on the population of coyotes, mountain lions and wolves in the area.

A few hundred miles North of Montreal we had racoons roaming the woods which has a longer and colder winters on average than the Cariboo region but most likely less predators at the time .

Things might have changed in the last few decades since though

That may be the ideal isolation for me. The views kicks ass.
I was looking in BC only and had a thought to change up my environment in a major way. Been looking at Utah, NM and AZ. Mostly because of the dry climate and incredible land scapes in the desert. Besides it’s almost the opposite of BC’s warm moist air pretty much daily.

Consider Nevada. I used to live there. Some of the little valleys perched up in the mountains are really quite nice. I sometimes miss the desert landscapes.
