What happened here?

It's been awhile since I've been in Victoria, the scene seems to have completely died down. What happened to all the places I used to visit? Looks like SU is the only familiar one that I recognize.

Maybe it's just me, but while its certainly true that the pandemic has had an impact, even pre-pandemic the Victoria scene really seemed like it was declining. Not sure why.

In the past few years, cost of living in Victoria has risen a lot. Rent and real estate prices have increased to close to the Vancouver and surrounding areas. People don't have as much disposable money for the hobby.

Maybe, though TBH real estate in Van is worse and I don't see that scene hurting (not that I've been go to Van all that often in the last few years).

Using the same measure of the city of Victoria (not greater Victoria) the population is 92k and change. We are way smaller
Metro Vancouver is 2.5 million so Fire and Ice’s comparison is correct using the greater Victoria numbers of ~400K.

Using either set of numbers Victoria is about 1/6 the size of Vancouver

Electra, I've heard the same from other ladies and I'm sure this is why we don't get the quality/quantity of SPs other cities get. Many men in Victoria think the SPs rates are already way too expensive for the service rendered, it's a common discussion to complain about the rates over and over again. Other boards in other parts of Canada don't allow it (TERB, MERB). Don't know why it's allowed here. It creates a culture of cheapness and degradation and probably overflows to you SPs.

Victoria isn't a good place to be an escort imo. I am lucky because I have had the same core loyal client group for a long time. But there is more harassment, way more guys lowballing you and wanting $80 services and the cost of living is pretty much the same as Vancouver these days. I've had clients offer me the start-up capital to create my own agency but I would never touch that in Victoria. Victoria just doesn't have the number of high value men who respect women and are easy to deal with clients that Vancouver does. New clients always wanna fight here. They don't want to screen, they want "a deal", they want to be annoying. It's not worth it. But my day ones... they are some of the best men I've ever met and why I always come back.

In Vancouver, it's way easier to book an appointment with screening info, deposit in 4 texts/emails back and forth while feeling totally valued, respected and excited to meet them.... Here it's such a headache dealing with men most of the time that I'd pay them to leave me alone.

Well written!

Sorry to hear about what you have to go through with so many idiots.
If it makes you feel any better, it isn't limited to your profession by any means. Customers asking me for discounts was a regular part of my day. My overhead, and staff wages are very high, profit margins low, and still they asked constantly for discounts. It must be human nature to always ask for a discount, or try bartering something else. Had they all been an SP I wouldn't have minded so much trading services 😉
Only ever had 2 professional ladies do that though, and we came to arrangement both times.

Sorry to hear that you are having such experiences. Since rates have gone up, I personally have fewer visits than ask for a 'discount. Its just a matter of having respect for other people's choices in my opinion.

Victoria and the region is mostly retired folks, students and government workers. None of these groups get pay big raises because cost of living rises sharply. Also, the same job pays a lot more in Vancouver than it would here.

If pay does not increase substantially in the next few years, the region will loose lots of good workers. I don't want to, but I am considering moving away from this region for a better balance of pay vs cost of living.

if a decline is happening maybe dating apps are playing a factor it’s so easy to get laid for free maybe more guys are going that direction
How do you get around people recognizing you on these dating apps?

when I say dating apps I mean things like tinder, pof, bumble ect... most ppl in this day and age have been on some sort of dating app. It’s really not a big deal plus you have to have a few pics up if you want to attract someone

Yet, you are here and you keep coming back. It would make business sense just to stay in Vancouver. I am willing to bet Vancouver SPs say the same thing about Victoria. It always seems better somewhere else but reality is it is pretty much the same everywhere.
