Wrong, wrong, wrong!!Let's not forget that NA Native Indian tribes slaughtered one another
long before the white man came and brought destruction. Does that
make it right? No. But what are we supposed to do about it now?
Should we take the blame and go back to Europe for what others
of the same skin colour, our ansestors, did?
Please read some history before making such statements.
Indians did have disagreements. They were usually of a personal nature and never over land and ownership, that was white man's way.
A war that started accumulating too many casualties would bring the leaders together to discuss the issues and the war would usually end.
Lacrosse was another method used to solve disputes, games sometimes lasting days.
A Chief or a leader of war parties had to be very careful about the welfare of his men (unlike military generals) and the decisions he made, because if a dispute could not reach a resolution, they themselves might be drawn into a one on one fight to the death to solve the dispute.
There was no wholesale slaughter of enemies or ruthless behaviour, that was a myth propagated by whites which led to the stereotyping of Indians as savages.
Ruthless, barbaric war behaviour was 'taught' to Indians by the Europeans. Scalping and bounties for certain tribes (men, women, and children) was first decreed by the British to wipe out New England and East Coast tribes. Many nasty predator types looking to make a quick buck would take the scalps of Indians who weren't even on the bounty list. Today, the myth is still circulating that "scalping" is a unique Indian invention.
Indians that were known 'enemies' of another tribe were hired as mercenaries by the British in particular but they were just as likely to be mistreated and discarded when their 'usefulness' ran out.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is one issue that will never be resolved! There will not be one arguement, statement, question or insinuation you have not heard before. The beat goes on and on... on and an...on and on.................
Perhaps so Hubbahubba, but only because myths and misunderstanding are continually perpetuated and not only on this board. Imagine what people might be able to do and think when armed with accurate information ?!?!
