Folks with lots of tats and piercings etc don't have real jobs, they exist in art or acting or some sort of 3rd dimension
false. I know plenty of heavily tatted folks with 'real' jobs that aren't acting or in art.

and as for the topic, I love tattoo's on women
granted, I don't particularly favour ink on or around a woman's chest... but that isn't going to stop me from enjoying time/a session with her.

I've never liked any art or any hobby long enough to say its for life. I get bored of things kind of easy so I would never get a tattoo, its might be something I want to get rid it in a week or 2.

So here is a question to the Ladies here....
What about battle scars, or war wounds?
I have a few unwanted markings that I never asked for, and I don't think they are hideous, or distracting...And I think of them as unwanted random shrapnel ,knife, and bullet tattoo's.
A few women in my past have liked them...Some have been turned off by them.
Only one is on my face ,and it's small..The others are on the chest , torso and legs...I feel they are part of me ,and tell some of my life story.
Scars are our history, writ on our skin. I find them intriguing. My most significant scar to me is barely visible to others....

I've had my tats for nearly 30 years, each one is a reminder of surviving, overcoming and eventually surpassing pain, trials of life, milestones...even has a slightly mystical origin. Even so, I would never have these removed. Tattoos are art, self expression of one's triumphs, loves...or whatever it means to that inked individual. Mine are like a talisman against the evil eye, vengeful gods...bad mojo. Each their own. Hell baby, you wanna decorate...go ahead. Let the haters hate, yada yada...

Tattoos never make a homely person more attractive.

Attractive people can get away with them, but as they age they get worse and worse.

I always wonder why anyone would do anything that is virtually permanent on their skin, when we expect to evolve. Either you don't evolve, or you have to add more tattoos or remove the old ones. A lose lose siuation.

Why does anyone need a tat to remind them of some momentous event in their life? You don't have a memory?

The Samurai tattooed themselves to signify they belonged to an elite organization that served.
The Inuit ,and some Plains tribes tattooed their faces as decoration, and too establish their singularity in tribes that called themselves"The Human Beings"
Different Gangs will tattoo their marks upon their body as a signature ,and proud display of their belonging.
Vikings tattooed themselves because it was in their culture to endure pain, and show how they will belong in Valhalla.
Decorating your body with piercings, scars, or markings that are permanent has been done since before recorded history. Some believe it is a part of our genetic memories.
It gave,..and gives us, a sense of belonging to a group, as well as individualizing ourselves.
Only human beings create art, for the sake of creating an individualized monument, even if it's upon our own skin.

Are implants, ear rings, facial piercings, belly button rings, dying of hair, fake nails, make up, and many other things not forms of scarring or body modification? Tattoos just get a bad rap. I actually probably know more people with them than without them.
Just shows how out of touch with reality I am. You know that about me Lavinia. I come from a different dimension than the rest of you. But then I come from a different time and place. So my thoughts and my perspective is a little warped.

My apology for.the way I.look.at it. Carry on world without me.

Like you I have a few.of these from situations that have gone wrong one in Eastern Europe and one from South America. I try to hide them and I am self conscious of them. Many a broken bone and too many hidden scars to tell all the stories. Some SPs get under my skin and have lurked beyond the surface to uncover the darker side.of me. Those scars are the deepest and the most painful. Those are the ones I keep covered up never to see the.light of day. Never to be shared with anyone. Only a one SP has pulled back the curtain and to my surprise she never ran for the hills. Others have peeked and peels away at a few superficial scars or my "tattoos" Only to at first feel sorry for me but then as quick as quick can be headed to safer ground. That is why those "tattoos" are best left for my personal darkness and carried to my grave as any closely guarded secret should be.

SPs come and go but my scars of my past are mine and I find SPs bring with them their life scars so why add more with body tattoos. But what the hell do I know.

My opinion for what it worth is I am not a fan. I can tolerate a little one tastefully done. But those bold ones just takes away from a woman's natural beauty. I can think of so many ways for a person to express themselves without scaring them selves.

But what do I know.
I have a similar mindset. Where I grew up, it was only white people of a certain class who would have them, and they weren't people I would be expected to associate with. Among the Maori, much more common, though not anywhere to the degree it is now (or was a century ago). During my time in North America when I first came here, I would have been hard pushed to be able to identify anyone I knew (in my rather rarified university sub-culture) who had a tattoo, at least, one that was normally visible. Tattoo's were associated with specific sub-cultures or groups of people and were not mainstream. Then I went to Asia, where tattoo's are also limited to specific sub-cultures or groups. 'Nice' people on the whole wouldn't have them.

A little over a decade later I returned to North America (Vancouver) and wow, what a change. It took me a while to get used to the cultural shift that had happened with tattoo's clearly having moved into the mainstream, at least in Vancouver. Many of my students and peers had ink and displayed it proudly. It took a bit of getting used to, as previously I hadn't circulated in the milieu who had them. I accept them, but don't have any of my own, nor plan to get any. I do think large/bold ones can detract from natural beauty and prefer not to see them. That being said, I do have a rather special friend who has a couple of reasonably discrete tattoos. But, I think bold works of art would probably lead me to look at alternatives in the case of ladies I expected to be naked with. They really don't do anything for me... though I agree that some are real works of art.

I don't like heavy, caked-on makeup either. Do you know the chemicals in a lot of that stuff? It was only very recently that my wife started to use makeup to any extent. I much prefer and appreciate natural beauty to shine through. Nah. Tattoos don't do anything for me, nor do other body modifications for that matter, unless very discrete. Maybe it demonstrates certain generational attitudes on my part... True beauty doesn't need modification or artificial enhancement.

I've long been attracted to the idea of a meaningful tattoo, but have always hesitated because my ideas of what I'd like have changed over the years. I feel much freer now about the option - it's no momentous decision - but I'm curious if it would at all influence the cohort who chose to see me (obviously I can't attain this data from a Perb poll, but I want to know what the results are anyway!). I'm not concerned about people staying away, but I am curious about your individual input. Have you found certain tattoos in certain areas distracting in certain positions? Uncomfortable? Funny stories? Photographers, what do you have to add?

Thanks for participating!
Tattoos are very common among girls these days, and particularly among those who are more adventurous, which I imagine is the case most SPs. Because of that any man who won't have anything to do with a tattooed girl is going to be pretty lonely, or at the very least not get the ones he wants. I think most men are tolerant about the little ones, but maybe not so much about the huge ones.

If you have big or extensive tattoos it creates the impression that you are not sophisticated and/or refined. So it really depends on who your clientele is. If you see regular working joes mostly, it might create a connection with them, but if your clients are mostly executives, the tats will probably not play into the way they want to see the encounter.

We all have our scars..
I have one from a combat K-bar that passed right through my right wrist, and between my two arm bones...I hardly felt it when it happened, and now I hardly notice that it's there.
I have shrapnel wounds from a Taliban IED that scarred both my arms, and a bullet fragment wound on my forehead , and upper lip that really should have killed me...But my legendary hard head saved me...Thats the one that bothers me most when I look at the man in the mirror.
It reminds me that I live on borrowed time.
I also have two fingers that I lost temporarily and somehow they managed to re-attach..Those fingers never let me forget how cold it is, or how over worked they are.
I have no ink tattoo's..I figure I'm decorated enough already.....Inside ,as well as out.

For me, tattoos = art.

The appreciation for art varies amongst individuals, and that's okay too.

I'm enjoying how this conversation has turned from tattoo's (art) to scars and their fascinating history. That's for sharing folks.

(no tat's, but plenty of scars on this ol' body)

I like them! They tell a story about you. A pristine, unmarked body just isn't as interesting to me.

Horny said it for me pretty well,Some is ok Lots or large I think not so much. To get an idea of what I mean google(or your favorite search engine) Kat Von d and compare the tat pics to the cover up photo shoot she did,Those pics with out tats show how hot she is and you realize how distracting they can be.
None on me and I don`t foresee any in my future but if you want to and can be ok with them 20,30 40 or more yrs from now go ahead.

Certain tattoos clearly identify a specific culture. Jailhouse tats are one example, gang markers are another.

Wear the wrong tattoo and it might get removed for you, willingly or not.
As a child tattoos were on men of my fathers generation who survived war. I would never have one in remembrance to them. A completely personal only reason. As for an sp, beware of anyone with a "property of" tat.

Great thread.

I think tattoos can be very alluring or an eye sore; it all depends. It's not about the amount of ink either. The picture shared by BigDuke6 above of Krave Karma I find tasteful and sexy. Needless to say, it wouldn't factor in to me spending time with someone.

I don't have any ink myself, but I do want to get a couple of tattoos. I've reached a major fork in the road in my life and I think some body art to remember what I'm forced to leave behind and to commemorate others who've lived and died doing what I've done appropriate.

If your enjoying the pain of a set of tiny needles ,injecting ink under your skin......I guess thats your thing, but some wouldn't consider that very painful.
Piercing , branding ,or scarring is a different level all together.
The human mind and body is an amazing entity that is capable of enduring super human feats of endurance, when it comes to pain tolerance.
Some can endure the pain of branding and return to do it again a short time later...I've known some people that went through torture sessions that lasted hours, and are scarred for life by their captors..If they survive, they simply walk into their lives back home , and carry on like it never happened.

I think small tats which may or may not have meaning to the person are ok. When you start to get into full body tats or inspirational expressions in a fancy font scattered around your body; that's a different thing all together. I really don't find it attractive. I wonder how many of these ladies realize that the body will attempt to break down the ink, seeing it as a foreign body and over time they become 'muddy'. That nice black orchid on the shoulder can look like a really nasty bruise years later.

I have one on my forearm. My initials. Jailhouse method. That's what happens when 16 year olds drink.
