What are your experiences with tattoos on a provider? Does it make a difference?

I've long been attracted to the idea of a meaningful tattoo, but have always hesitated because my ideas of what I'd like have changed over the years. I feel much freer now about the option - it's no momentous decision - but I'm curious if it would at all influence the cohort who chose to see me (obviously I can't attain this data from a Perb poll, but I want to know what the results are anyway!). I'm not concerned about people staying away, but I am curious about your individual input. Have you found certain tattoos in certain areas distracting in certain positions? Uncomfortable? Funny stories? Photographers, what do you have to add?

The lifetime of a tattoo seems to be about 5 years. I know a number of people that are going through the expensive and painful process of removing tattoos that don't reflect the person's current lifestyle or beliefs.

Because tattoos are a statement of lifestyle and beliefs, I don't engage in intimate things with people that are announcing that they are in the drug culture or self harm culture.

One of the values of a tattoo is the old identification standard of 'soft' biometric traits such as height, sex, eye color, ethnicity, scars, marks, and tattoos. I would be more likely to see a well reviewed SP with a tasteful, distinctive tattoo because I would know that I was seeing the person that had the "good" reviews.

There is a huge difference between barbed wire around the neck or biceps, "jailhouse" tattoos done with a pen and needle and a tasteful tattoo done by an artist.

I've been contemplating adding to my ink for some time. I have one (well, two, really) on my tummy. I got them done when I was 31, shortly before my first divorce. I have been considering a dragonfly design ever since I had 2 major surgeries to remove large benign tumours in 2010. Been thinking about it a lot more since I got sick last summer, It would be just as subtle, discreet and personal as my first one, although probably larger, brighter and bolder too!

+10 Natalia. Wow what an assumption. I am in the process of having one of mine removed because I no longer like it. I did it when I was young and not thinking clearly. Not because I was on drugs or into a "specific" lifestyle. Unless you meant college instead of drugs. LOL. And SDW, your response still sounds nebulous at best. On another note, I think tattoos can be super hot!

My opinion for what it worth is I am not a fan. I can tolerate a little one tastefully done. But those bold ones just takes away from a woman's natural beauty. I can think of so many ways for a person to express themselves without scaring them selves.

But what do I know.

What about battle scars, or war wounds?
I have a few unwanted markings that I never asked for, and I don't think they are hideous, or distracting...And I think of them as unwanted random shrapnel ,knife, and bullet tattoo's.
A few women in my past have liked them...Some have been turned off by them.
Only one is on my face ,and it's small..The others are on the chest , torso and legs...I feel they are part of me ,and tell some of my life story.

Certain tattoos clearly identify a specific culture. Jailhouse tats are one example, gang markers are another.

Wear the wrong tattoo and it might get removed for you, willingly or not.

took a while to understand your post...it was not worded properly. He means tattoos that are specifically designed to represent a certain culture or lifestyle, probably marijuana leaves and gang signs? I am not sure, but I know what you mean...you're not saying all tattoo'd people are druggies etc.

I was always too afraid of the pain to get a tattoo, and of course the regret...I probably wouldn't do it anyways, I'm extremely sensitive and don't want to irritate my skin and body with unnecessary superficial things...and then what if it didnt even turn out nice, I would be extremely devestated lol

I find scars fascinating! Whether from injury or surgery, I always want to know the story behind them. They don't repulse or disgust me in the slightest. I'm especially fascinated by surgical scars as medicine is my thing, but battle wound scars are just as interesting. My friend was an Israeli fighter pilot and was shot down. He could no longer fly so he became a medic. His team was searching houses and came across one with an old woman laying on a bed. Enemies sprang from under the bed and open fired on them. My friend took a bullet to the chest and one to his ass from a bloody 12 year old kid. He was severely wounded but took the kids gun away and beat the crap out of him. Swears he didn't kill him. Not sure I believe that. But scars can tell amazing stories.
