Semi-related side note. I've known women who stick loyally by partners with drug-use problems, so drug-use might be a "turn off" but sadly it is not by far a "deal-breaker".
On the flip side, I've known women who have abandoned men because of video gaming hobbies. The two points actually have overlap in a couple of women I know.

I can't tell if it's because video gaming is something they don't understand, or because rampant drug use is something they can.

Complicated issue, but here's my 2 cents:
They know that drug-use is a much more destructive activity than gaming. But they choose to stick with their "addict" partners cuz they're might still be a good/caring person. However, they struggle with their own demons, but they're trying to get clean and their partners choose to stay in order to support them. I seem this personally in my own family sadly.

While gaming on the other hand is not as harmful. Maybe that's all they do is play videogames.
They probably look like the South Park WoW addict. Fat, unemployed guy who games all the time, they neglect everything/everyone else.
Maybe that the imagine girls come up when they hear the word "gamer". It wasn't really cool to be called a "gamer" when I was in HS.

Let me ask you this: based on your reasoning, if a woman is attracted to tall men, does that mean she must also be tall? If she prefers wealthy men, does she need to be wealthy herself? If she likes funny men, must she also be funny?

While it might be frustrating for you to hear, men and women generally tend to be drawn to different qualities. Additionally, there are plenty of hypocrisies and double standards in dating that exist on both sides.

I hate to break it to you, but women are typically much more forgiving of men when they are promiscuous than men are of women who engage in the same behavior

People who play video games are literally my type and a good portion of my clients too 😋 There's a limit to anything before it becomes an issue though, and I would steer clear of the level of gaming addiction that prevents a person from taking care of even the basics of life. Luckily, not an issue for clients because they work hard & game in moderation 🤝💙

I was truly surprised by how many people misunderstood the entire concept of it being an unattractive hobby. While smoking is a topic of debate, I wouldn’t classify it as a “hobby” but rather as a habit. Shopping and smoking can indeed even be an addiction, and as for the other comment, that was simply a list of unattractive traits in a women , not hobbies. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂
