Good evening ladies, gents and fellow SPs,

I would like some advice.... I am a gal with an MP background who is returning to the industry.

I know I have certain assets that draw repeat clientele.

But often, they are flaky (and I'm talking regulars)! For example: I ask somebody to confirm one hour prior, and alas, no word, yay or nae.

I understand my clients have lives. So do I. I'd appreciate a heads up, anyway.

I consider this just plain.... well, rude! Should I ignore them from this point, or attempt to educate them?

Given my MP background, I'm not used to having to deal with this stuff. I just had to provide a quality experience, which I do.

Thoughts, anyone?

It's rude and unprofessional. Educate them and if they continue to flake, drop them as clients. I know it means the loss of future money but there are better clients. I've had to "fire" a few clients in my line of work as well. It's the same money whether you are dealing with someone nice or putting up with an asshole. So why not choose the nice client instead.

How far ahead are you booking your clients that they need to call an hour before the actual time? If you are booking more than a day ahead why not get them to pay a non-refundable deposit via interact email transfer? Say $50? Or even the full amount? If they don't show you still get something out of it for them wasting your time, and I bet anybody who does pay an advance would be more likely to show up. I see a few SP's around Vancouver doing this and I'm betting it works.

I think ladies have a personality a style and that attracts a certain type of clientele,,

And to be honest I have worked with the public for forty years almost, and there is a certain type of person that is just difficult to deal with, high maintenance, they never really change there difficult they ask for special treatment, they bitch complain when they don't get it, it takes a lot of time and effort just to deal with them double or more then anyone else,, and they never ever change.

If you can put up with it put up with it, if not don't accept dates with them but don't expect them to change,
From my experience there behavior kind of gets worse if they know they can get away with it, So if you don't like what the guy is doing tell him so right away don't let it continue but chances are he is going to be offended and not come back.
I think in some cases guys look for a women who tolerates there bad behavior its maybe why there paying for it to begin with, no women would put up with them,

lower mainland.
I suspect any negotiated arrangement between two people can be wrought with difficulty, misunderstandings or hiccups. Me? I'm open to being guided along to achieve a desired effect, especially if it benefits both involved. Feel free to educate and coach the worthy clients.
After all, wouldn't most client's prefer to achieve a "most favoured," status in the eyes of the SP?

It goes both ways. I've shown up and gotten the no-answer upon arrival. It doesn't happen too often. Guys who waffle on appointments are tres annoying for sure. I always call if I'm running late, and leave a little extra the next time, on the rare occasion I have to cancel. It's all part of business. There's always a pain of a client every once in a while.

It's the way the clients are in Winnipeg, Nikki. I hear this from other SPs all the time. Worst rep for flaking in Canada.

All you can do is work through it, firing the flakers until you are left with a group of guys who respect your time. These guys also tend to respect you more in general.
