I have often deposited money directly into an SP account with out a card. You just go to the teller with the account number and account name, and make the deposit, transit number needed too. Email banking resolves a lot too.
But never run into this sunglass thing, but yes, I can understand the logic of making your face clearly visible. Next ATM's might be demanding the same, they all photo you when at the bank. Not the little private ATM's though.
Yes, Royal has been difficult over the years, but that difficulty translates to security in dealings, and the bank policy has often been set related to bad situations in the past. It just depends on how the situation strikes you.
For me, I had difficulty many years ago in setting up a corporate account with the bank, while Scotia bank seduced me with their easy approach. Cost the Royal well over a million in business over 10 years. Honest years at that. Now I find Scotia bank is so tight with their email transfers, $1500 limit daily and light monthly sum limit, that I can't effectively use it. Royal on the other hand lets me mail a couple of grand in one email. Never had a limit error message yet.
