This morning I went out to have breakfast. I had a craving for eggs,
sausages, pancakes, etc. I know, I know it's a heavy meal. I usually
stick to lighter fare.
My meal came to a little under $10 & I gave my server a $20 bill.
I asked for $10 change. Well, the bill I received looks exactly like
a regular $10 bill. It has the indentations in all the right places.
Colors look right. I even dab some of my saliva to see if the ink
would rub off, it didn't. The hologram stripe is there too though the
colors look duller than the real bills. I also notice all around the
borders, there was a little bit of bleeding of some red dye/ink.
The biggest give-away is that the bill felt THICKER than usual.
I remember reading a warning on CL a few weeks ago that some
lady is using counterfeit bills around the downtown area. I know
losing $10-$20 is not a big deal but it still sucks to lose money.
Just a warning that crooks are getting more sophisticated these
days.
I asked my server for another bill & she happily obliged. I told
her about my suspicion. I hope she didn't pass it on to someone
else!
