Haven't changed to all Dodge....except for patrol cars. The community cars are all Ford plus they have a few Ford Transit Vans..the HD 350's and yes, they do have a Ford pick-up contractor/tradesman type pick-up. It's used by the VPD commercial vehicle inspection unit, who are not above writing out the odd speeding ticket or ten....Yesterday afternoon, a VPD tradesman type pickup truck with a canopy was cleaning up on speeders coming off the Iron Workers Bridge. Dark grey colour, new but not sure about the make definitely not a Ford. May have been a Dodge since the VPD cars have all changed to that brand.
It's fast coming off the bridge with a sudden transition to 50 km speed limit.
He got a few as they drove up to the first traffic light. On my way home again three hours later, he was still busy writing tickets.
I've been told that all LE have ticket quotas by more than one RCMP member....but each department has its own priority list, and were they place that quota on it.The CPS has a good amount of ghost vehicles and they range from the Charger and Camaro in cars to the larger trucks of the F 150 and the Ram 1500.....pretty easy to spot though with the smoked glass and all of the extras. The Traffic division of CPS does have a monthly ticket quota as mandated by City Hall, this was bit on the fuzzy side of things until a few years a go the now retired chief of police Rick Hansen straight out said the CPS HAS a monthly ticket quota mandated by City Hall during some heated contract negotiations.
Do the VPD have a monthly ticket quota?Given the size of the GVRD and the amount of crime and problems etc and taking into consideration the amount of taxes flowing into city coffers I did not think the VPD would have the time to do this.
That being said a "ticket quota" is just another form of taxation upon the citizenry who are already over taxed as it is.

I think having ghost vehicles is the best way to actually be effective to address all these bad habits people have acquired while driving....
I can't count how many times while riding my motorcycle have pass beside other vehicles and either they are talking on the phone or even texting....
So if VPD or RCMP want to use bikes... Smart cars ...taxi... buses.. horses for all I care... all the power to them... it's not like the law was implemented last week... it's been in place long enough for people to readjust their habits.. just like when it became mandatory to wear seatbelts... now.. it's a habit to buckle your belt even before starting the car.....
My only concern is that the way it's going is that a new law will come out banning cell phones in every vehicle... simply because of idiots whom can not get it through their thick skull that sooner or later you will hurt someone before you get caught ...... then the rest of us will have to pay for it again...where the mass is punished for a handful....
I agree.... this society has managed to push all it's own responsibilities onto others... you can be stupid as a door knob... make senseless actions.... and somehow they always find someone else to blame for.... and more...name it another kind of rare illness.... WTF ..... we all know... born ugly ... there is a fix... born stupid ....there is none.....I agree. I have no problem if they are tackling the incredible amount of stupid shit I see every time I drive anywhere, everywhere. Not just from drivers but pedestrians and cyclists too.
Unfortunately., the powers that be tell the police to focus on speeding because it is a quantifiable measurement, and holds up well in court. Really, what is needed is a hard crackdown on all the nitwits who do not pay attention or expect other people to always be sharp and cover their ass, safety-wise.
Can't see that happening if you are using hands free or they would have to make talking to your passenger chargeable offense since that would be just as distracting. My only concern is that the way it's going is that a new law will come out banning cell phones in every vehicle... simply because of idiots whom can not get it through their thick skull that sooner or later you will hurt someone before you get caught ...... then the rest of us will have to pay for it again...where the mass is punished for a handful....
Yeah.... but don't you always get a WTF look when you drive by?Try this on for size..a ghost bike...? Couple weeks ago, North West Marine along Spanish banks. Red Dual Sport maybe Honda Africa Twin leading the way, big old Dodge dually diesel and moi....30 km along the beach...get to 4th and a great cloud of crap and the Dodge is hauling ass....the bike keeps pace behind him and just before they hit Highbury the bike lights up....red and blue a flashing. Don't know if it was VPD or a horseman from UBC...no uniform, but the dude in the truck sure had a WTF look on his face as I drove by.
Yeah.... but don't you always get a WTF look when you drive by?
You gotta be used to that by now.
