Does anybody else find it very ironique how there are so many people on this site that are all about law and order, don't text and drive, don't answer their phones when they are diving , don't speed and observe all traffic signs and don't use drugs And at all times respect authority treat women and men with respect and never use them for gain or pleasure.

Funny your on an escort review board.!!!e

I would be a hypocrite if I clamed any of it at all times.
And I am considered a nice guy by many that know me.

Alright........I've been arrested twice, been in the back of a police car four times.
And trashed one of those police cars with my boots ....from the inside.
I don't have a cell phone most of the time unless I borrow one from a friend....which is why some SP think my name is Cecil, or Dave....and yes I will answer a call, or text before I have a chance to pull over....I mean ,it may be one of my friends here giving me a call when I'm in town. Having said that I do try not to make a habit of it.
I don't use drugs, but I run my own still, which means I probably take quality control to seriously at times, and yes I will drink and drive on a country road on occasion, as a taxi service is out of the question...and if I get caught, I'm prepared to take my lumps like a man.
I ride a quad, and a horse without a helmet onto Crown land, and I'm packing a little friend under my arm for predators.
The handgun is legal, but I know carrying it isn't , and if I get caught it's a federal offence.....we all break the law, and wander into grey areas, but I live by the adage that....." I prefer to be an alive convict in prison, than a law abiding corpse"

one idiot who was stopped twice in 8 blocks, didn't get the message the first time I guess.
My friend's daughter is only 30 and has had several serious accidents, and written off two cars.
She insists she can drive and text and that distracted driving laws are stupid.

right here and now
driving 45 in a 60 just to make everyone slow down in a marked cop car.
As much as this makes me laugh it is also frustrating. The meek drivers are just about as bad. This type of timid driving shit just adds to the frustration out there.
Just PASS THE COP you stupid lame-os! Just go the limit +5 and you will be OK!

Count me in on the law and order.
And I do respect authority- although I don't always agree with it. There's a difference.
And actually- no, I don't text and drive- ever, unless I've pulled over etc..
And I have Bluetooth and hands-free in the truck.
Yes, I speed when the traffic pattern is such- for instance on the 5 headed up to Kamloops- it's a fucking race track with the new 120 posting. and occasionally on various clear roadways- but who doesn't?
Drugs? the relevance here, please?
And using women for pleasure? Well, DUH! :)

Hmmm. And yet the media hasn't reported this? Anyhow, I don't believe this would cause the police to purchase additional ghost cars. People solve crime, not cars.

Don't forget Customs and Border Agents...or anyone for that matter who's in a position of authority.
Border agents are rediculous, I had to explain step by step how to change a clutch and flywheel because he didn’t believe I was going to do it myself, I have since started paying the brokerage fee through fedex to have car parts shipped to my house so I don’t have to deal with those idiots again

Once or twice a year I bring motorcycle parts and accessories across from Blaine. The Canadian border folks are always surprised that I go to the trouble, rather than just buying stuff in Canada, but when I explain the reasons, they never give me a hard time about it.

One time I was crossing into the US on business, and the border services agent asked me to explain one of the technical aspects of my business. I doubt that he understood my explanation. He just wanted to see if I could come with something plausible, under pressure.

Since I'm from The States, my experiences going North have varied from 'have fun in Canada' to 'here, bring this to the agent inside' and everything in-between. My iphone is never visible, no clutter what-so-ever, and the rear window is always rolled-down. I've been asked to show my business card, open my glove-box, fold the rear seats up/down but overall smooth sailing. I do drive considerably faster than the posted limits and rarely text while in-motion (traffic/stop-lights/etc. I'll check/respond) and Bluetooth re-enabled once I cross The Border.

We have 'stealth' patrol down here as well (plain-Jane Dodge Chargers the random Camaro) but I've not noticed (probably by design) any 'hoopties' pulling folks over

its so easy to just pull over, guess people need to develop the habit
An acquaintance pulled over, put the engine in park and applied the brake.

They still got the ticket for distracted driving. It was cold and the engine was still running.

Such bullshit. A friken money making machine that makes people disrespect cops even more.

I was dinged at a red light for looking in the direction of my phone on the passenger seat. I didn't even have it in my hand. The RCMP was in the bush beside the road.

I should put my phone in the trunk because I'm seeing all these distracted driving seeking cops everywhere.

I'm driving a sports car that I've been restoring and upgrading that was built pre high tech days.

I use a portable BT speaker for voice calls.

I’m in a somewhat similar situation, but I bought a new car with every option and am slowly taking stuff out...A/C, sound deadening, rear speakers/subs, headliner, back seats are already out. Probably grab some fixed back race seats this year to drop another 140lbs, heated power seats are overrated anyways. Could have saved a lot of trouble if I had just gone to the US where the mustang is available bare base with manual everything no a/c or hands free

I was eating at Knight and Day (Boundary and Lougheed) Street work going on with a gas pipe being installed. 4 cops working, checking for seatbelts, distracted drivers, expired plates, etc. They would hide behind a construction or flagger vehicle and get everyone they noticed. Landoffice business for the entire time I was in the restaurant.

Burnaby RCMP have a Honda Fit Ghost Car and a Ranger Pickup with an L on the tailgate. I've also seen a Range Rover. So far, I've been lucky. Seen the cop "light up" a car in front of me in time to "adjust".

My gf told me last night that the fine for distracted driving is over $500. I don't drive so does anyone know if this is accurate?
$378 for the ticket plus what ever 6 points costs you when you re-new your insurance. Could get expensive for a person with multiple tickets.

I couldn't agree more johnsmit. I'm not reading text msgs driving down the road but have been guilty of it at a light, which is the same ticket. Too many people throwing stones when you know they are no better.

That's just sad and pretty pathetic when a cop has to hide in a bush to hand out $500 fines. 10 dogs probably pissed and shat in the bush that morning. I'm all for enforcing laws but have some dignity and stop resorting to such tactics.

If you haven't already, dispute it. I was in traffic court a a few months ago for something else and all 3 cases of distracted driving before I was called up were dismissed because the cop didn't show.

Check your closet..:)
They always say how many they issued.
But they never say how many were disputed and dismissed.
