Not in our lifetimes anyway...

They've tried all the best coaches, they've had many of the best players, and sadly some of the best fans.

The salty Pacific air, the aroma of freshly brewed Starbucks, the best ski resort in the world, golf 24/7/365, and the "sweat-less" dressing rooms all contribute to a slack attitude that could never win the big prize.

i see it this way: game 7, game tied, 30 seconds left, some Canucks grinder has a break-away and the moment he shoots my heart gives out and I croak never knowing if they won or not ...

That's the life of a Canucks fan.

:p

Surely you meant, "That's the death of a Canucks fan", eh? (I know; picky, picky. picky...)

I once had season's tickets, back there in the hopeless seventies.

Alss, I'm now a committed closet fan...

Who cares about the Canucks now.....they're out....this is old news!!!!
We'll worry about this come next season!! This has become a broken record now....I've said this many many times......big changes are needed ....first was Crawford and more too come!!! I will say this though.....It won't surprise me if these nuckleheads above choose half ass players or a half ass coach!
They're notorious for these kind of moves or choices!!! Which leads me to say this....Ted Nolan should be the coach!!! But no...it's not written in stone yet but I hear that ......I don't remember his name....some of you might.....but he has a french name.....God help us if NONIS chooses him,.....BUT IT WONT SURPRISE ME....knowing the canucks track record in choices!!! he coached Pittsburg and Montreal.....and got let go by both teams.....that says it all......we'll see though........I'll be pissed if they choose him!!!

The Red Sox won the World Series and the Clippers are making a run deep into the playoffs ... surely Canucks can take the cup home to Vancouver ;)

nope, definitely meant 'life' as in 'a whole life of never seeing them win!' (and the minute I croak they win the fucking cup!)

I believe you're referring to Michelle Therien, whom I believe still is the coach in Pittsburgh.

i believe you may be right about the air or why? vancouver usually has a barometric low hanging over it during the winter, i think that effects allot of people and especially atheltes.
its been an 'ownership' problem from the word 'go!' ... anyone who has ever worked some place with a shitty boss knows that no matter how hard you try, how good your attitude is, how much your co-workers band together to support each other, if leadership sucks then everyone sucks.

This team NEEDS a good leader, and John McCaw, Break-em Burke and Nonuts-nonis, the Crow, Nazzie etc have not provided one ounce of decent leadership.

Haven't had it since Trev took em to the finals in '94! and won't have it until they find guys who will lead by example.

Its gonna be a long hot summer and a cold lonely winter.

PS: doesn't help that the NHL CONSISTENTLY give the nucks the worst schedule in the LEAGUE!

The Canucks will win it right after the Leafs do. Which is pretty much the same thing as never.:D
The Leafs have won the cup many times, though not is the recent past but the Nuks are losers and they will never win.

Quit living in the past the Leafs last won it in 67 back when the NHL was an old boys club and they used to take turns winning the cup. This was 3 years before the Nuks were formed they're both huge losers.

There are only two ways to get a winning team in any sport.

You can have a revenue model that allows you to buy a winning team by getting players at the top of their game.

Or

You can build a team that works together and drill the players to play well at most situations.

New York has done the buy a team thing.

Colorado and now Ottawa have done the build thing. Note that Crawford was the coach of the Colorado team that was built into a winner.

Vancouver will never have a revenue model that allows them to buy a winning team. Some very poor choices have made the facilities too expensive, which makes the ticket prices too high for the majority of the population.

When you can't fill the building and don't have a population who is willing to fund the elite's private entertainment, you have to build a team that is competitive and capable of winning it all in a few years.

"Superstars" like Bertussi are the reason that the Canucks couldn't do that this time around. Bertussi is a thug who is too slow and skilless to justify his wage. Bertussi is the reason that Team Canada came back with not even a Bronze.

The previous go around we had the Moose and before that we had Bure. Bure is the guy who never passed the whole time he was a Canuck. At the Olympics he finally feels that it's not all on him and scores 7 goals in one game.

If the game was about buying only one player, it wouldn't be called a team sport.

As a Flames fan, I hate the Caknukleheads. I hate to say they would be a very serious contender if they had say Luongo for a goilie. They were very good with two second rate goalies. They would have at least make the playoffs if their top three defencemen did not go down

The Colorado team was built by the Nordiques then they bought the rest of the guys and counted on Montreal giving them Roy.

Wasn't one of the pros of the salary cap that you could no longer simply buy your team a la Detroit, Colorado, Dallas etc? Since there's a cap and floor on team salary, every team is pretty much on a more level playing field, no? And Vancouver's been among the leaders in sellout crowds so it would seem that revenue isn't really an issue, even if there wasn't a cap.
