Taking money at par.

I remember a SP posting she got duped into taking Indian rupees at par. The guy got laid for the equivalent of $5.

Ah, the pitfalls of keeping the arithmetic simple.

Not impling any ill intention here, but years ago we stopped taking USD in our retail stores because our staff were not familiar enough with USD to spot obvious counterfeit money, and we ended up taking some in over the course of a month. So we stopped taking USD, as our bank caught the fake cash when we deposited it. We lost the money obviously. So lesson learned, banks and currency exchange places have machines to analyze bills to catch fakes, and we sent customers with USD cash to them. Many did not return even though they could exchange the USD in the mall.

Counterfeit is a serious issue with US money. Don’t be surprised if some providers don’t take it.
A few years ago Winnipeg was flooded with fake 100s and 20s.
Anyone taking US money needs to be careful.
US Secret Service has good guides on their website for detecting suspicious bills.
