Yes newspapers are a thing of the past.

All mainstream media is dying.

I wonder why?
So you agree that your comment doesn't support your thesis but is rather an obvious result of technological and societal change? Excellent.
It's nice to know we can agree on something.

You say things are getting worse.

The Democrats have been in power for 12 of the last 16 years.

How do you square that circle?
Tell us that, in addition to your many other misunderstandings, that you don't know how laws are passed, either.

I could be more condescending. It would be easy,.. but unnecessary. My comment was facetious in nature and intended to be provocative. I suspect many Americans are sophisticated enough to see through his lies, they simply don't care. He appeals to a variety of people for a variety of reasons. Doesn't make him a good person. Doesn't make him any less despicable. Just means that his supporters are human and prone to vote to their own self-interest, or at least their own perceived self-interest. I suspect that many will have occasion to rue their vote, but that's not really the point.
My point is that he is to quote you "Orange Man Bad". You think you're being sarcastic. What you're being is truthful. At least with this one comment.
Try convincing anyone that he's a good person... go ahead... try...
What kind of idiot bases their vote on self interest?

Lol.

More condescension.

You're at another level, you know better.

Mainstream media is dying because people don't trust it anymore.

Try the support group.

It won't help with your TDS but it will probably be comforting to be around like minded people.

Or is any of Russian/China aggression due to the Western world economic stranglehold/control of patents (legal only in western countries), and financial control of markets/trade/infrastructure projects that could help other countries (not western countries). China's Belt and Road initiative is a direct competitor to this control by Western powers.

Canada main concern should be land security, especially up north, where there is untapped oil/gas fields, minerals etc. All standing around waiting for other countries to come around and set up camp.... For that we will need good equipment and a stronger attitude towards defense.

The Russians and Chinese definitely responded to US notions that it would be the only power of any significance, deciding the course of events in the world permanently. That that and every other nation with any self-respect saw that as a threat is 100% logical.
It's called the "Project For A New American Century" - basically, a treatise that formed the US grand strategy for the post Cold War world order, namely pre-emptively crippling the ability of any other nation of alliance to compete against them or challenge their authority over world affairs. It was written in the late 1990's, before 9/11 but predicted that the US could use some "Pearl Harbour-like event" to justify military incursions into nations that were not going along with the unipolar world order that the Americans envisioned.

This was not some conspiracy theory fictional document - this was written & published in the open, authored and endorsed by many leading figures among their national security & foreign policy community. The fact that the US government took it to heart and made it central to their vision of the future has been clearly evidenced by the direction & decisions taken by the Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden governments (and will be seen under Trumps second term, because it is bigger than him or any president). That includes everything from (in violation of arms control treaties) rushing ahead with things like missile defense and militarizing the orbital/space theatre of operations, things like the Iraq invasion, the overthrow of Libya, and attempted overthrows of Venezuela, Syria, and Iran, expanding NATO and turning the Baltic states & Ukraine into US client states, weakening Russia (the only peer competitor in nuclear arms) and aligning the world against China.

China, Russia, India, and other powers, also read this plan (like I said this is an open source document, not fictional and not clandestine), and they took it seriously once they began to see the US government acting as it after the time it was written. They definitely became more belligerent towards the US and "the west" because of it, began to re-emphasize military strength and make open and forceful challenges to the US & its allies. To them, it signalled that the US even in the absence of opposed ideology, has no interest in peace, only global power projection and total dominance - and these others are determined to fight against that, going "scorched earth" if necessary.

Now we live in the world all the forceful pushback against that plan created - a second Cold War.

I agree, Canada's main concern should be its own defense. rests, but backing off the Russians or Chinese from Canadian territory is next to useless if we then hand over control of our territory to someone else. Watch how quickly the noyion of fair treatment in "the west" disappears when our neighbour decides they want to break their treaties with us for their own advantage. The next round of trade negotiations with the US will prove that - and those politicians here who want to sideline Mexico to appease Trump may pretend to be "strong and "patriotic", but really they are gutless submissives, eager to surrender Canada's sovereignty.

The real "strong" attitude Canada needs is one of self-respect and making it clear we do not bow down to anyone.

Jimmy Carter

He dithered while the Iranians held the US embassy hostages for 444 days.
Reagan arranged for those Americans hostages rot in captivity for months longer, just so he could win power in the US. Arms for the Ayatollah's regime, in exchange for holding the hostages until Carter lost that election.

Any talk of what Carter didn't do, should include what Reagan did do.

I don't know if you just got back from being on another planet or something but have you heard the news?

The guy you call the worst and human trash just got reelected.

That means a second term as President.

And the Taliban are ruling over Afghanistan a second time too.

The fact that people will follow psychotic assholes and give them the power to fuck the world up a little more is actually all too typical.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullying

I like how people only tend to paraphrase something. I did put the word in quotations....

""The CAF has trained its personal over the years is how to respond to "woke" I am being harassed attitude (it only take a couple of these shit-cans to really drop a units' moral), that I seriously doubt they are a lean mean killing machine! If someone's mean words are hurting an individual, how the fuck are they gonna respond to someone trying to kill them. When you go to war, you need the "bullies" and their attitude and toughness.... ""

No where in the wiki explanations do they call bullies cowards, common misconception from movies I think.

Everyone to some degree is a bully. Parents bully their kids to brush their teeth, go to bed early, clean up their rooms etc. If they don't its some type of punishment or treat or favorite activity that is taken away. Threat maybe??

The government makes laws. Police enforce them. Courts makes punishments for breaking laws. The idea of a law is that there is the threat of punishment. Isn't that a form of bullying?

My point overall is that the CAF is weakened by woke policies.

Also pretty sure that if the CAF was hunting down bullies, its command structure would suffer 100% fatalities.... the threat of punishment.... that has never happened to an individual or to groups in the CAF at any time in its history....

Without bullies, how do you know if you can stand up for yourself? People hate bullies because they been bullied themselves.

You've been using that same lie for almost a decade now. It's time to admit you've been lied to.

Shit. Don't feed the troll.

"If the majority of people saw through his lies..he wouldn't be President".

Could you be more condescending?

Apparently 75 million Americans lack your level of sophistication.
actually the they're lacking concern, they're apathetic

4.6 Million less voted, when the population must of went up some, plus the % of eligible voters didn't really increase either

sophistication has nothing to do with it

and "orange man bad"

no, orange man incompetent, conman

I haven't back to the states since open carry became more prevelent.

A friend's son pitched for the A's and we were at a game during spring training. We were in the smoking area and someone noticed my cig package and said .... French printing on one side and American on the other. I reminded him "American" is actually English. (Would not do that today) But no need for a Dept of Education.

So, they're not dumb or stupid, they're just apathetic.

Americans were told repeatedly that Trump was a psycho/felon/rapist/unhinged/Nazi.

He's an "existential" threat to democracy.

Apparently millions of people decided to either to vote for him or not vote at all.

Weird

I spent two weeks traveling through the eastern US last June.

I didn't see any guns and I didn't get shot even once.

Are there dumb people in the US?

Obviously.

Are there dumb people in Canada?

Definitely.

Cool story though.

The US of A has had declining education in the masses since Reagan cut funding for basic education. After 2 full generations of poor education, we see it in the lack of critical thinking, ignorance of many things not directly in the purview of the individual, and the list goes on. The shell game started in the 80's is in full bloom today. And not just there, the same is creeping into other countries as well. Sad ...

Finally someone with the balls to call out that evil tyrant Ronald Reagan.

Experts agree he single handedly ruined education in the US.

Most of societies problems can be traced directly back to him.

The guy was a complete asshole.

You're brave to point it out.

Don't be sad, you're a hero.

I have to say Justin Trudeau has just gone up tremendously in my estimation as Donald Trump’s stunning cabinet picks have a poor opinion of him according to the National Post!!

FIRST READING: The Trump cabinet really, really hates Trudeau
U.S. administrations usually don't have strong opinions about Canada. Not this time.
