DEI is racist
when you just use people's ethnicity/colour/gender, you're discriminating against someone, someone who's more qualified, it's happening in Canada now, the Turd has it as policy, has since he got elected
look at what it's delivered, subpar results
it's a race to the bottom
Harris was a DEI pick, she ticked the boxes, female/colour, 2, she wasn't the best available
still isn't, she was just convenient, she'll be gone in 4 yrs
Diversity Equity and Inclusion is not inherently racist.. it's a concept that is difficult to implement in practical terms.
The concept is that everyone regardless of their differences should have equality of opportunity,.. unfortunately many equate this with equality of outcome. The result not the opportunity.
Many people take the concept to extremes, either refusing to acknowledge that someone who does not fit their conception of the role is competent and deserving, or believing that someone who is not qualified is deserving because they are not the stereotype of the role.
The truth is that life isn't fair. We can only try to treat others fairly and with consideration and hope for their success.
Just because you have the opportunity to achieve something doesn't mean you have the skill or intelligence or strength or whatever characteristics are needed to achieve it, and even if you do, that doesn't mean that there won't be someone else who's better.
Enough about DEI and back to Harris.
I think you're underestimating Harris because you want to believe that she's not deserving, or ."she's a DEI hire" fits so neatly into your conception of her that you might even believe it's true. That may be because you have biases against female/colour/ etc (the things you mentioned). or it may be because you've done some in depth research that isn't apparent to mostly everyone who looks at her list of accomplishments.. but the bottom line is, it doesn't matter how she got the job, it matters what she does once she's got it and you have to admit, for someone whom you don't think is qualified she's doing a pretty good job of proving that in this democratic job interview she's got an excellent chance of getting the job. Sounds pretty qualified to me.
Don't be bitter, even Trump is whining about how he wants Biden back instead of Harris, you are entitled to do the same.
Doesn't make you right though.
