Seriously, US politics is a disease. The rest of the world needs to vaccinate itself against mutating into what they are.
THIS.

This is one of the more profound statements in any US political thread.

Bannon has been telling Brazilians their election was stolen, and Musk is implying the same thing.
Many Brexit politicians in UK used American strategists.
Andrew Scheer (remember him lol) and his party also employed many American strategists who had worked for Trump. Note that Scheer campaigned on personal attacks and had zero policies. Scheer’s campaign ran a “100 Days of Lies” claiming to post lies made by Trudeau. In reality Scheer’s claims themselves were easily fact checked lies. Sadly very few actually invest the effort to check them.

(I also have zero respect for these same kind of clowns up here in Canada.)

Germany was hit by this kind of "regime change" attempt too, but the authorities there had the good sense to rip it apart before it got very far.

It's not just the American-style tactics and rhetoric spreading. Dig into it all and you'll find it is someone or something inside the US, reaching out and putting enormous resources into this behind the scenes. They fund a global template for political personalities and actions that just keeps banging out copies, with slight local variations. All that dark money floating around the corrupted systems has to find an outlet, and it finds it by funding proxy armies & agitating for coups, but disguised as populist protests. The legions of angry "patriotic" mooks in the streets are just a proxy army for some very powerful people, with very deep pockets. If they can't hijack democracy with all their money, they'll just kill it instead.

I believe I've said this before here, that orangeman is a menace to the world. He started all this lies and fake news blah blah blah... At first it seems harmless but now truth is being supervened with lies and hate by people who refuse to accept the truth. It's becoming a norm. Sooner or later, ordinary people will start trowing hate and telling lies as oppose to just politicians. This is very dangerous. Democracies and freedoms are being challenged. If all these failed, nothing matters if you're conservative, liberal or independent. Americans don't realize it yet, buts its happening over there and I sure hope and pray it stays there.

This all started with Rupert Murdoch.
Exactly, Wikipedia says 1996 he started Fox News aimed at a Republican base.
And man has he made a lot of money from it!!
Also got to bang Jerry Hall.

In my mind Nixon showed what nasty could do, Rush Limbaugh talked about it for decades , Newt Gingrich started applying it and Rupert Murdoch, Roger Ailes with Karl Rove perfected it . Since then Bannon, Miller and company weaponized it all with the help of social media and Russian trolls farm to spread it. Not always in concert but often reacting to each other actions and comments to keep Nasty and shameless ideas, statements and behavior in the news and becoming the new normal.

But as you stated Rupert Murdoch was the megaphone that was required for them to succeed...on that I totally agree

Very True. And there were other people as well, but it was only orangeman who was able to become the most powerful person in the world, sadly. And lots of uninformed people in America find him "attractive" that transcends normal political discourse. Nixon looks like a kindergarten child if you compare them.

The usual suspects still obssessed with Trump, and studiously ignoring Biden's many issues.

His drug addict son,Hunter Biden claimed he paid $49,910 a month to live at President Joe Biden’s Delaware residence where classified documents were discovered, a document shows.

The file, labeled “background screening test,” shows Hunter Biden lived in the president’s Wilmington, Delaware, residence between March 2017 and February 2018. Hunter Biden also claimed to “own” the property, according to the document.

So, a father charges his son 50 large a month to rent the family home. Yeah that's normal. Said son working for foreign entities and paid exhorbitant sums in fields he has no expertise. Said father declares $19,000 in rental income for the same time period. That's tax fraud. Money laundering seem at play.

Time to cue the usual excuses and deflections.

At least it's public . Done in the open . Nobody has had to fight it all the way to the supreme court to get the information and will be dealt by the IRS or the congress in the coming months on one side and the special counsel on the other . Hopefully if any irregularities are found , they should be dealt with accordingly.

Keep in mind that most of us when thinking about what's in going on with our neighbors (ours) to the south will be as critical for one side of the political spectrum as the other when given the chance. But when outrageous thinking, far fetch ideas , conspiracy theories true or false have not been substanciated yet or false rumours debunked for months are thrown in the discussion ....yes we will pounce on it .

Right on cue - the first excuse. That information came from Hunter Biden's laptop the media dismissed, and ignored during the election. Information that was "public, and done in the open" but hidden from Americans by a compliant media favouring one candidate, and one party down the line.

I hope you're just as concerned for the son in law that received $2 Billion from a murderous dictator.

Actually all these problems start with taxes. There are 2 sides to it.
1. Too many deductions in the tax laws. With the large amount of what you can deduct from your personnal taxes; there is room for fraud and hiding money.
2. Every tax collected dollar has to be accounted for.

Either way leads to corruptions, and lies to cover the corruption up.

I know lots don't agree with me on #1, but you have to keep things simple. The more laws/tax deductions means money that is not going to the government and lots of people aren't paying their fair share. A simple tax rate around 20-27% would be best, with no deductions. Deductions are what government give you, so you feel better about yourself....

Another thing is Corporations. If the Corporation is paying out dividends to its shareholders, how much tax is it paying? With its HQ in another country paying lower taxes and thus more for the shareholder.... I say throw the CEO in jail until the HQ is moved back to the country of origin.

In politics.
Tell the truth. If you don't lie, you can never be caught in a lie.
Check the facts. People lie to you every day, not just the media.
Avoid rhetoric.

"Stop the presses, we have to get all our colleagues to peer review our stories before we run them. " Said no news organization, ever.
