Old school Socialist Bernie Sanders unhappy about billionaires. There is no shortage of billionaire Democrat supporters. Those billionaires spent a lot of money to help their candidate Kamala Harris get elected. The Harris campaign burned through nearly a billion dollars to defeat Trump. They failed. Bernie has been on the public payroll for the better part of 44 years. What has he accomplished? He has managed to make himself a multi millionaire so I have to give him credit for that. His Socialist rhetoric would sound at home or would be relevant if this were the sixties. Unfortunately for him it's 2025 so very few people take him seriously. Socialism doesn't work, never has worked and never will work.

I do think some of the political trolls on these forums literally just pull some of these kinds of comments out of their asses. Or maybe its a cognitive dissonance, hard to tell when what spews is so out to lunch.
" Socialism doesn't work, never has worked and never will work. "
Except in the Scandinavian countries where they enjoy the highest standard of living in the world, high education rates, excellent medical care, low crime rate and the list goes on and on. Oh and for the most part they are really nice folks.

No no ...they really don't know. It's more an educational problem that would force them to change their positilon.

I am dealing with the same type in my family. Those guys prefer learning and repeating the rhetoric they learned the than reading about current events , historical facts and data

Sweden, Norway and Denmark are not considered Socialist countries. They have capitalist free market economic systems.
They do enjoy social programs that are made possible by the wealth created by the free market.
North Korea, Cuba and Venezuela are considered Socialist countries because they have a state run economic system.
This isn't rhetoric. These are facts.

There are so many ignorant people out there that cannot understand the difference between a “socialist state” and a “social welfare state”.

To them, they are all God damned Communist pinkos !

Trudeau 2.0 and Biden at times have been labeled socialist and even communist here and on social medias for certain policies which is what was discussed.

The Scandinavian countries are considered social democracies and laughed at by the far right conservative leaning people because of all the taxes and services provided by the states. I would suggest that you discuss with the people of those countries before affirming that they are not socialist.

Difference between classical socialism and market socialism theories have existed even before Lenine and the Bolsheviks took over in Russia . Ricardo's Market socialism even preceded Karl Marx theories in the early 1800s ( thank you for making me look this up since I had not read or discussed the subject since the mid 80s so that I could be sure )

Venezuela has been labeled socialist because it is run by a party with Socialist in its name but it is not considered as such neither is it considered a communist government. Its simply a dictatorship that had its origin was in the socialist movement with Chavez but was turned into a authoritarian regime as his health diminished and Maduro took over. The uninformed buys that labels given to Venezuela but not the majority and not the informed people .

The problem with a lot of people is that they are neither compassionate nor understanding and they don't believe that others can be such because they themselves don't have it.. Instead of being compassionate and understanding they spend all their time worrying about what other people think and do, other people's personal decisions that have absolutely no bearing on anyone but themselves. These people vilify them and label them "woke" as some sort of pejorative insult instead of thinking about their own flaws and striving to be better themselves. I fully realize that there are many manipulative and deceitful people out there... but having blinders on and not looking for the good in people is just as destructive as taking people at their word.
Peace and understanding. Happy Weekend.
Not sure about Canada, but in the U.S.….prior to Trump, WOKE titled people got preferential treatment with employment and education. That is wrong on sooo many levels. In the 1980s that was called reverse discrimination, which, before going into private practice affected me. I don’t care what, who or what the color a person may be, I care if that individual will make my company money. In this forum a person is banned for expressing a different opinion than the majority of members, which is ironic from a professed open minded society. Regardless, Carney and the Cartel President of Mexico had a horrible day today. The agreement between the US and China should be an eye opening slap to reality for the world. I didn’t see it coming, but I think it is possible Trump planned it from the beginning to get countries to acquiesce toward trade agreements. Now the entire world saw the two largest economies renegotiate trade. It is like seeing two of the biggest bad asses walking toward you in a dark alley. Yesterday NHK reported Japan has not been able to get an appointment to negotiate trade. I suppose there are too many countries in line. That is ok, Carney acted like a tough guy on the campaign trail, but he came to DC with no bullets in a gun. Just a guess, Trump wanted a Canadian liberal to get elected. Liberals promise tons of free stuff paid by people that make money. Within four years, your auto industry will be back in America where it belongs.

It's true that some people took advantage of policies designed to give access to employment and educational opportunities to those that had been discriminated against and marginalized by societal realities.
It's also true that actual discrimination is far more common than what was called reverse discrimination. One of the least acknowledged truths is that history is commonly ignored, crimes against ethnicities, genders, sexuality are ignored as unconscious biases guide mainstream feeling (not logic, feelings) into demonizing anyone that is different. The truth is that life isn't fair. You can blame "woke" people. You can blame ignorance. But try seeing things from someone else's point of view. Maybe you'll feel some empathy.
Love thy neighbour as thyself.
Happy Monday.

Look who decided to crawl out from underneath his rock finally. How long before you punted again? Two weeks I’m thinking maybe for 6 months this time.

Wow, he didn’t even last a day before swearing at the mods. Your two weeks prediction seems pretty optimistic.
