Ya know, I do a tax return each and every year as an individual Canadian taxpayer. I also do a tax return each and every year for my business, which also pays taxes. And some partners do the same in Uncle Sam land.
I must be extremely stupid (and surely many perbites would concur with this sentiment), however I have yet to find a hidden box to tick, or a secret form to fill in, that would allow me NOT TO PAY TAXES. Newflash—wealthy people fill out the same fucking tax return that you do, and the feds don’t fuck around when the numbers get big
The only viable options I can see to reduce the amount of funds I send in to the Federal and Provincial governments to squander on dysfunctional programs, turd graft, and government inefficiency, are to give massive ammounts of $$ (4 times the tax break I get) to registered charities, or bailing out the payrolls of bankrupt companies (capital losses). These are too repugnant to support imho, due to the institutional buggery involved. Therefore I pay my taxes and carry on best I can. Clearly, I need a better accountant and tax attorney—you know the one’s that snort coke off of white round tushies. Even then, standing up to a CRA or IRS audit is no fucking picnic even when everything is 100% perfect. In hindsight, grey or black market would be sooo much easier for any business. But no, we must punish the honest businessman. There must be a villian!
This taxation infrastructure has been around for a long long time, and the peanuts that shift around from one party to the next are just that—peanuts in the big scheme of taxation. Unless you’ve actually dealt with this, please appreciate that you may not have a fucking clue about the generalizations you may be making. Sure, some trillionaires may be able to blow billions on dying or dead companies to show a taxable loss over here to offset a taxable gain over there. My conclusion is that this is largely expensive hubris to fuck the man on principle, but if it really made economic sense, I’d de doing if and there would be a lovely gold-plated tick box on my tax return (the one that you aren’t allowed to see). There isn’t! No, it is the same fucking tax return! Have a look it it.
90% of what I see businesses doing is paying employees, paying taxes, and then anything leftover going to shareholders gets taxed too. If you’re really good, you can generate some wealth with the leftovers. Mostly though, you go broke. Either way, you pay people, and you pay the government BS if you ever make any money.
Canada is so vulnerable right now, because we have stupid policies, big government, and a pervasive attitude that successful businesses are bad.
We are soo fucked.
