Ok......carry on

and that's why the Dems lost to a mentally disturbed old man

that's why they just rolled over in the senate

attitudes like yours

calling people dumb instead of engaging them in on their level, their issues

don't talk about it, that's what you said

that's the dumbest tact you can take

so carry on

Life is short ......nothing is permanent. These extremes will ideally lead back to a "middle way" and if they don't they don't I'm not going to argue about the merit of it.

Agree!

We need centralist, more balanced parties and policies.

Both parties currently so extreme and polarized, they actually bring about the agenda for powerswings and their own demise.

Problem is, centralist parties sound boring. Not enough sabre rattling for overhyped news media. So we end up with leftist or rightist zealots occaisionally pandering to centralist policies.

Pretty fucked up situation. Neither party can support a good initiative in the house or senate because it looks like they would be supporting the far-wingnut opposition.

China and Russia laugh at what democracy has become.

still thinking this is real game... Trump is about to blow a huge hole in the deficit. the numbers are astronomical. and the MAGA base will lose Medicaid.

‘Not quite yet beautiful’: Republicans at odds over spending cuts after meeting Trump

"The 2017 cuts were made temporary in order to reduce their deficit impact, as Republicans were initially trying to make their bill revenue-neutral before agreeing to $1.5 trillion in deficit expansion.

The current tax extension bill could add substantially more to the deficit than its forerunner. The cost of simply extending the expiring 2017 cuts will cost $4.7 trillion, according to the Congressional Budget Office — more than the $4.5 trillion the House budget resolution has allotted.

Without any offsets, the Republican tax cuts could amount to $6.8 trillion in federal revenue losses if they are written to expire after 2033, according to a recent analysis by budget modelers at the University of Pennsylvania. If they’re made permanent, they would shed revenue by $7.7 trillion.

Republicans are seeking to be able to ignore nearly $5 trillion of those revenue losses by using an accounting method that disregards their legal expirations."

they can cook the books but the deficit appears to be going up by probably 25%.

You just did.
There’s a Tesla every 2 minutes in Richmond. Richmond doesn’t just lean right, it’s all the way right. At my gym the right politician had a table in the mall, it was a party table. Huge line up. Pretty sure people that drive teslas are from all the sides lol. But now because Trump is so hated and Elon got into politics, Tesla stock is tanking. Everybody hates Trump. Right, left, independent, and center. The only people who like Trump are trump cultists.

Somebody drove a tesla into the river here the other day. Was stolen apparently, guess it will be going to the tesla junk yard.
Not that Teslas are worth much anymore even a minute out of the dealership lots ... when it's not Tesla screwing their own clients by lowering the MSRP to levels unsustainable and unjustifiable for their clientele

I don’t hate anybody. Hating is bad. It unhinges your value as a human being and rots your soul.

I do not particularly like Trump. I do like how he exposes stupid political agendas, failed policy decisions, and dysfunctional programs, especially war-provoking foreign policies and chaotic regime change meddling in other country's affairs.

I do not like how the media features Trump on every newscast like there is no other news worthy of the nation’s attention. I do like how Trump does not disappear right after an election and work on shit in secret, and provides unprecedented (excessive) access to news media, activity transparency, Q&A opportunities so that the electorate can at least see what the heck is going on—good, bad, or ugly, and decide for themselves. Harris virtually disappeared for 3-1/2 years then ran as an absentee VP. Polar opposites. Devil you know vs. the invisible woman and the senile puppet. I don’t like when governments clam up and make everybody see through their scrubbed press releases and put on their rose-coloured glasses. That’s cultist too, and scarier than a botched colonoscopy on a hot summer’s day.

I don’t hate any of the politicians. They all have a role to play in encouraging better candidates and party policies across the board to step up and create a better future.

The vice president isn’t the president. She didn’t “disappear”. She had specific roles that she absolutely was doing. Her record is public record.

I agree with you on the hate tho. The world needs more love. Love will heal the world

I have no problem hating someone who enjoys cruelty and ruining others lives.
Tolerance is a two way relationship - if one side is preaching lies and promoting hatred they do not deserve tolerating.

And no, politicians do not work in secret.
Their work goes unreported because 98% if the population is more interested in hockey or the oscars. Nobody watches CPAC and we end up with Polievre getting away with non stop bullshit.
I work with guys who could tell you the life stories of hundreds of NHL players but don’t know who their MP or MLA is.
Americans AND Canadians are pathetically ignorant about their own governments. And most can’t focus on anything more than two or three bullet points.

well, there you go!!! Lutnik spills to Canadian trade representatives who are, i'm sure, constantly asking "what the fuck do you want from us?"... Trump's claims that the US is financing other countries economies is bull shit. his plan is for import tariffs to act as a regressive tax on US consumers and businesses so that he can forge ahead with cutting progressive taxes.

this isn't particularly a pro business stance as it will destroy many US financial interests... but Trump either doesn't get this or doesn't care as he isn't in the import/export business himself. its ridiculous as tariffs just depress trade and thus tariff income drops over time.

What's Trump's endgame with global tariffs? Canadian officials say they have a clearer idea

" The other two are measures to help make the spending and tax cuts happen without growing the deficit, including slashing government spending through Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency and tariffs, which are meant to be a new revenue source and attract investment into the United States.

Paterson said the American plan is to impose tariffs by sector across countries all around the world on April 2. From there, the
countries that get along with the U.S. the best will be "first in line" to adjust or mitigate the tariffs. "

"get along with the US the best"... i love that. i'd suggest that, coming from the Trump administration that means... bow down and don't make Trump look any more stupid. i think the Canadian government is on the right track here... make it increasingly difficult for Trump.

in other news... wonder how that Ukraine metals deal is going?

100% this. Hate is a strong word, and not one I throw around lightly. But Trump has earned it by actively encouraging hatred toward others. He is increasingly dangerous, and each day sees the United States march toward fascism. If this sounds wild and alarmist to someone then they clearly are not paying attention.

At one point I’d have agreed that the Office Of the President deserves respect no matter who holds it. George Bush Jr was moron, and Dick Chaney was devious and corrupt, but they never even came close to what’s happening now. American’s let this happen because so many are wilfully ignorant of what is happening around them and easily mislead by their churches, social media behemoths and anyone else who want’s to control them. They ignored what Trump was and is.

Like Westwoody I meet people every day who devote huge parts of their brains and attention span to trivial nonsense but ignore reality. It’s like most of us stopped paying attention in grade 8 social studies class and never looked back.

Please Canadians. Pay attention and don’t let this happen to us.
