Last night went out to Rumours Comedy Club with some friends.
After the show we were talking to the headliner and ended up buying him a couple of beers.
Turns out he still writes some stuff for Jimmy Fallon and knows a few of the SNL writers.
He was telling us that pretty well every writer in NYC wakes up every morning and the first thing the do is check Trump's twitter and then the news channels.
No one ever used to do that.

Actually, Trump has it wrong. Health care CAN be simple - just remove all government funding.
Individuals should be responsible for themselves. The free market will provide.
The government has NO obligation to the old, poor and sick, who should just die already.

She said that Ivanka is the real brains of the organization. Revenue from her product lines are cross subsidising the rest of the Trump brand. An interviewee said that without this income the rest of the organisation would be bankrupt.
Remember Ivanka has a business degree from an Ivy League school and is respected for being very smart. Donald and her brothers are mediocre at best.
This may be why she is now in the White House. Donald is clearly over his head and his other confidantes keep fucking up. Ivanka may be his last hope.

If the Chinese were trying to throw the election, I might buy into the theory, but the Russians? They can't even keep their cars on the road. It would make more sense for them to get Clinton elected, because they knew she was easy to manipulate, whereas Trump is a loose cannon. And if the Russians wanted Trump elected, they sure screwed up if Hillary got 3 million more votes, essentially making it a fluke that Trump still won the electoral college. Nah, too many alcoholics, too many incompetents, too many reasons Trump wouldn't benefit them.

While I agree with your characterization of Assad, the problem with all there fucked up Middle Eastern countries is it just leaves a power vacuum and the alternative is just as bad or worse for the people and the West.
We even do it here but not as violently.
We get rid of Harper, who everyone hates but then end up with Pretty Boy Trudeau. Who while never one to turn down a photo op is a fucking disaster as a national leader.

The problem is that the US does not produce enough people to do those jobs. That is the reason for having the visa program in the first place.
Getting rid of the vis program won't mean more jobs for Americans, it will mean higher salaries for those who can do the job, and a loss of jobs overall as companies relocate operations to other countries where they can find people with the appropriate skills. If a company can't fill a position locally, then they have to fill the position somewhere else, which means that that particular job, along with it's contribution to the tax base, will be leaving. The H1 visa program was a tool that the US had which enabled them to steal the best and brightest from other countries, and in doing so provide themselves with the raw material to keep the economy growing.
Or conventional bombs blew up some chemical storage facility that happened to be in the way.
