When I met this beautiful Sasha fox few weeks ago, we talked about many things including the movie, Twilight. The theme of the movie was true love. The question is whether true love exist. There are so many books and movies about it, but is it possible in real life?

Absolutely! That doesn't mean the relationship is going to be a an idealized situation every moment of the day - but I absolutely believe that any relationship worth being in is founded on many of the 'Hollywood' ideals of what a relationship should be.

Trust, unconditional love, great conversation, truly enjoying the other person (whether you are doing everything or nothing at the time), a best friend, common goals and ideologies, a true understanding and respect for the other person and of course chemistry all play into what a relationship should be.

Every relationship will have times of struggle, and in all honesty, that is what helps us to appreciate the good times even more.

You should never be with a person you can live with. You need to find the person you can't live without.

Very well said! My friend's mom just donated her kidney to her husband who was suffering from kidney failure. They got married through a matchmaker 40 years ago and still together. I guess this is close enough.

Yes.

True love for a man = the drug testosterone in his pants. LOL.

True love for a woman? Don't ask me, i'm not from Venus.
Probably a result of propaganda since childhood via the media.
For some reason they crave those sweet nothings/lies. Maybe
something to do with her being decieved in the garden of Eden.

I would liken the Hollywood romantic fantasy of true love to the
pooner fantasy of GFE.

Of course the former is politicly correct, dating back before
Romeo and Juliet. Pooning, though just as ancient, is not, as
it is seen to oppose the family (or GF/BF) unit and morality.

Certainly there are exceptions where amongst the liberated,
such as in Thailand, it is more acceptable for a person in a
relationship to have mia noi, giks, see ladies of the night,
and male prostitutes.

http://www.thaiskale.com/journal/gi...ai-casual-polygamy-sexual-culture-การมี-กิ๊ก/

But i digress. Back to "true love", whatever that is supposed to mean.
Please define it, if possible. Is it eternal? Is it divine? Is it only between
a man and a woman in a relationship involving sex? Does it involve the
way a mother feels about her child? Do animals feel the same about
their siblings? etc

WARNING! Twilight spoiler below. Do not read any further if you
haven't seen this movie yet.

The "true love" in the movie Twilight is between a several hundred
year old vampire and a high school girl. She seems attracted to him
at first sight because he is hot, while he longs for her and her blood
because {in his own words} it's like "a drug" he can barely control;
at several points in the film he cums within a moment of sucking
her dry. He is also especially attracted to her/her blood because
she is the only human being that he can't mind read. That makes
him curious and her special. He is her white knight who saves her
from a deadly accident, rapists, and kidnappers. He is her superman
who flies her to the tops of trees where there are breathtaking views.
At times he is incredibly rude. At others caring, sensitive and a true
gentleman, putting himself at risk for her safety.

Is this true love, a hollywood fiction/fantasy, both?

very well written L.C...you provided a lovely definition of 'true love'...i couldn't agree more...but sadly, that is all it is, just a definition...

true love is certainly a reality, however, not realistic...the majority of married couples choose to split...and i believe that another good chunk of couples remain together for the sake of their children, or to save face,...

true love, although real, rarely turns out to be 'forever' love...

I believe true love exists. . .

I believe true love exists. . .
but unfortunately not everyone will get a chance to
experience it and I think a lot of those that do have
that chance don't even realize it until it is to late and
they've let it go!!

True love is when you care more about the other person than you care about yourself. If you don't, it isn't true love.

Just my humble opinion. :)

Wow, I am impressed about your knowledge on Twilight. The sequel, New Moon, is currently filmed in Vancouver right now.
Many people expressed impressive opinion regarding true love, but what percentage of people in the world would find their true love, less than 1% or more?
