So messier had no impact with the Rangers in 94.

Gretzky had no impact on only slightly better than average Kings teams. You are confused.

I am not an Oiler fan and I wasn't during the hey day, but considering the reality of the NHL at the time winning the Stanley cup after they changed the playoff format.

I would suggest that your desire to tear down others because the Canucks have nothing to be proud of is a bit weak.

That being said, the biggest mess in Vancouver was MIKE Keenan, who has proved that in every organization he was in.

compared to the record the Oilers had their impact wasn't that great ...

and, btw: my comments started with someone saying they'd rather have Messier than Linden and I stated that in my opinion, Linden was better for the Canucks than Messier was ...

No their impact wasn't as great.

No fucking kidding they went their separate ways to different teams, and tried to make average to above average players great.

The Oilers built a great TEAM out of Great PLayers, knowing their roles and wanting others to do well. They went from the best team of the 80s to other teams.

They went to other teams that weren't as good, has no clue how to play Oiler hockey, and tried to build that environment, they all ran out of time.

As for modern day hockey.

Tampa has a good chance. 5 or 6 young good players and a coach who knows what he has.

I am not sure about their goaltending, but they have a chance to contend on a regualr basis.

what type of unsubstantiated rumours are you proclaiming.
unsubstantiated of course........ The only one that could have possibly proven it decided to protect his career and keep quiet.

'Rumours' of Messier's off ice diversions are certainly not a secret.

An aquaintance that played junior hockey with a few current and ex nhl players told me of the incident. This guy is now an RCMP officer that coincidentally operates their lie detection equipment. As such, I trust his information. You can decide for yourself if you want to believe it. I think it is very likely to be true.

John was told by a recently retired player, who recieved a tearful phone call from an Ranger player. The victim described the condition he found himself in the morning after Messier helped him back to their shared room. The victim was disoriented and speculated that he may have been drugged. I can't vouch personally, but I imagine there would be some residual sensation long after being sodomized.... not to mention DNA evidence. The three friends talked it through and the victim decided to clam up and not say anything.

It's not my place to name the others in this little drama. However, as a result, Messier's greatness is greatly diminished in my eyes.

I wonder if this gets edited? perhaps banishment? oh well........

I think they were room mates on a road trip. Or maybe Mess was just being the 'team leader' by helping the guy to back to his own room. I don't remember all the details of the incident it was quite a while ago. The main point is that I was told that Messier violated the trust of a friend and team mate by commiting a criminal act.

I used to be a big fan of Messier until I was told the story. Nice leadership, eh.

Mr T

If you're going to intimate that Messier raped a team mate at least try and get the team right. Messier played for the Rangers not the Islanders. Your recounting of "your cop friend's story" does little to boster my faith in our police department and even less to make me believe your story.

Rangers, Islanders... whatever.......
I have edited for accuracy, I never claimed to be a fan of the hockey clubs. Just sharing the story. Believe what you will or will not.
