Shady,

Not cool.

I expected better from a normally straight-up dude like you.

(provided it wasn't just a failed attempt at cheeky humour)

Let me give the translation a try.

First part:
"Has any SP's ever encounter a travelling sales man? "
Sounds obvious, she's just asking if any SP's out there have met a salesman.

Second part:
"Someone looking out for your ....$$$"
I believe this means someone selling financial advice, or some sort of monetary investment system.

Third part:
'I'm curious, because he was one of the "best pitches"'
She is interested in what the salesmen’s selling because of his convincing presentation.

So, Chantel has probably met a salesmen who offers financial advice or investment opportunities. His presentation was so good that she is considering his offer, but want to ask any SP's out there for advice.

Either that or he's a pimp. :D

It is using the stereotype of a chinese accent
rac·ism ( P ) Pronunciation Key (rszm) noun
1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.
It is all too convenient but simplistic to use a broad brush when applying the inflammatory term "racist". I doubt the poster meant it in a sinister way. More like a juvenile schoolyard slur that should be dismissed out of hand. When we use any accusatory term too broadly, we diminish the potency of the word, when it should instead be used for more serious breaches of conduct.

Maury,

I have no idea what race you are, but I'm going to take a stab and say you are white. The fact that you have taken the time to comment on what I said and not the offending comment speaks volumes. Perhaps if you were of a race or religion on which a derogatory comment had been made you would not dismiss it as oh just school yard stuff.

Please don't take yourself so seriously over such a trivial thing.
And please don't say that it's not a trivial thing.

Frost, I think you've read my post but clearly have misunderstood its content - being blinded by your own zeal. So, I will expand it for your benefit. Racism has many facets that range from one extreme where violence and murder rule, to the other where slurs and whispered words are the preferred currency. In between are a myriad of forms.

Some people who feel victimized by any form or hint whatsoever, are quick to lump all forms together. This approach distorts the whole picture, and is more likely to be ignored, like the little boy who cried wolf. If we want to be more constructive as a society, and root out the problem, we have to narrow the focus to the most damaging extreme, thereby enlisting a larger part of society in this effort. So, using racism in a more effective manner, leads to a more productive outcome, and that is the objective. I hope I have made myself clear.

Maury,

Interesting thoughts, and well-spoken....but as an Asian, allow me to kindly disagree.

Implying that some forms of racist behaviour are somehow less offensive than others, and therefore less worthy of disapproval, is nonsense.

"Speak Engrish" - is making fun of Chinese people, period. "Poking fun" at someone's accent and calling them a "chink" might seem different to you, but they grow from the same seed, and deserve the same scorn.

Perhaps if you'd been taunted and abused by white kids during your childhood, you would think differently.

The only thing that diminishes the fight against racism is the ridiculous thought that racism is, in small doses, less harmful and less destructive.

First, the "r" is nowhere near the "l" on a keyboard - next to impossible for it to be a typing error.

And if you know Slim Shady's history, he is not one prone to committing spelling errors.

As for my nickname....are you actually one of the two people on Earth who doesn't know the main characters from The Simpsons?
